The “Pickleball Burger” is now available at Burger King restaurants across Japan, with this innovative new burger celebrating the burger chain’s recent sponsorship of Pickleball Japan, the Japanese governing body for the sport of Pickleball.

Pickleball is a rapidly growing racket sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis.

Played on a smaller court with solid paddles and a plastic ball, it has gained immense popularity worldwide, particularly for its accessibility across various age groups and skill levels.

Burger King’s decision to sponsor the Japan Pickleball Federation is part of a growing trend of major brands investing in emerging sports.

The “Pickleball Burger” itself is described as a large, American-style “rice burger”.

Breaking from traditional burger buns, it features a “special rice patty” that was jointly developed with Hachidaime Gihey, a Kyoto rice merchant that previously helped them develop last years special KYOTO Whopper burger.

The use of a rice patty instead of bread is a popular adaptation in Japanese fast-food markets, appealing to local tastes while offering a distinct texture and flavor profile.

Many local burger chains such as MOS Burger or Lotteria feature rice patty buns are part of their regular menu, but this isn’t something typically found on Burger King Japan’s menu.

The burger is designed to allow customers to “fully enjoy the deliciousness of meat and rice” suggesting a substantial patty and a savory rice base.

The promotional artwork issued by Burger King Japan makes it clear that the “Pickleball Burger” does indeed feature pickles and also exactly how many pickles customers can expect on their burger.

Each burger will include 11 pickles and no other toppings or sauces.

The new “Pickleball Burger” is priced at 1,790 yen for a single burger and 2,090 yen for a meal including fries and a drink.

Customers interested in trying this novel burger are encouraged to visit participating Burger King locations soon, as its availability is temporary.
