Bandai Launches Second Gundam x Hatsune Miku Collab Gunpla Kit

Two major Japanese pop culture icons, the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise and virtual singer Hatsune Miku, are collaborating once again for a special model kit release.

Bandai has revealed the brand new “RG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.2.0 [Hatsune Miku Ver.],” which will be sold alongside a reissue of the previously released “RG 1/144 MS-06S Zaku II [Hatsune Miku Ver.].”

These unique model kits are part of the ongoing “Gundam 45th Anniversary x Hatsune Miku” project, a large-scale team-up that has previously involved virtual music concerts, capsule toys, and other figures.

The new RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.2.0 [Hatsune Miku Ver.] kit utilizes molded plastic colors to recreate Miku’s style without relying solely on paint.

The armor parts are rendered in a blue-green, silver, and black color scheme that mimics the cybernetic look of the character.

It includes original “Realistic Decals” designed specifically for this version and comes with beam saber effect parts molded in a special color to match the theme.

The Zaku II mobile suit, a staple of the Universal Century timeline, has been meticulously recreated in the high-detail Real Grade format for the RG 1/144 MS-06S Zaku II [Hatsune Miku Ver.].

This rendition moves away from the traditional military green, instead presenting a refreshing and visually distinctive color palette of white, grey, black, and teal.

These signature hues have been faithfully reproduced through the utilization of precisely colored molding during the manufacturing process.

In terms of included weaponry and accessories, the Zaku II model kit comes fully equipped with the standard Zaku machine gun, the powerful Zaku bazooka, and the signature heat hawk melee weapon, allowing for a variety of dynamic display options.

Like the RX-78-2 Gundam, this kit includes original and intricately designed realistic decals specifically created for the Hatsune Miku version, adding an extra layer of detail to the finished model.

The new “RG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.2.0 [Hatsune Miku Ver.]” is priced at 4,290 yen (approx. $29.00 USD / £23.00 GBP) and is scheduled to ship in May 2026.

The re-released “RG 1/144 MS-06S Zaku II [Hatsune Miku Ver.]” is available for 3,850 yen (approx. $26.00 USD / £20.50 GBP) and is also expected to ship in May 2026.

Pre-orders and sales are being managed through a lottery system on Premium Bandai.

The lottery application period opens on Monday, January 19, 2026 at 11:00 JST (RG 1/144 MS-06S Zaku II [Hatsune Miku Ver.]) and 12:00 JST (RG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.2.0 [Hatsune Miku Ver.]) and applications will be accepted until 3:00 PM on Monday, February 2, 2026.
