Bandai Launches New Tabletop Games Brand with Gundam and Pokémon

Bandai Spirits has made two major announcements that are set to affect their ever-expanding plastic model kit business.
The manufacturer has revealed that model kits will now be produced under the newly created “BANDAI HOBBY” branding and that they will also launch a new tabletop game division later this year.

Bandai Spirits is a leading Japanese manufacturer known for producing high-quality plastic models and hobby goods for fans across the world.
One of their best-selling ranges is Gunpla, a line of plastic model kits based on the Gundam franchise.

The new Bandai Hobby logo establishes a unified visual identity that will appear across all products, and is said to embody the joy of creation and the excitement of play.
The design features a blue letter “B” and a red letter “H,” intended to represent the core values of the company.

The blue letter symbolizes craftsmanship with soul and unimaginable creativity, while the red letter stands for the emotion of bringing something new to life.
These initials are surrounded by a plastic model runner shaped like a “V” to act as wings that connect with fans worldwide.

The new tabletop division utilizes the manufacturing technology developed through their plastic model business to propose a new form of entertainment.

The initiative will bring some of Bandai’s most popular franchises to the rapidly growing tabletop miniature format, which sees fans build small models and participate in strategic games.

The first wave of releases under this new project will be the Gundam Assemble tabltop miniature board game and the Pokémon Plakoro dice battle game.

The tabletop brand aims to create an active community where users can play together through numerous physical events in Japan and beyond.

A dedicated official website has been launched to allow players to search for local events, register for official tournaments, and manage their match records in one centralized location.

Sales for the Pokémon Plakoro sets will begin at hobby goods retailers in July 2026.

Sales of the first wave of Gundam Assemble miniature sets are currently set to begin in October 2026.
