Bandai Confirms Return of 2 Popular Zeta Gundam Gunpla Kits
Bandai Spirits has announced the exclusive re-release of two updated Gunpla model kits originating from the classic anime series Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam.
The “HG 1/144 Rick Dias” and the “HG 1/144 Rick Dias (Quattro Bajeena Custom)” faithfully recreate the heavily armored mobile suits utilized by the Anti-Earth Union Group.
High Grade models are the core of the Gunpla hobby due to their accessible 1/144 scale and impressive range of movement.
Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam serves as the direct sequel to the original 1979 Mobile Suit Gundam anime, introducing a grittier narrative and a vast array of complex mecha designs.
The Rick Dias is notable within the lore for being the very first mobile suit to be constructed using the fictional lightweight and highly durable material known as Gundarium Gamma.
This historical significance makes the bulky machine a favorite among dedicated fans of the Universal Century timeline.
The standard dark blue and black “HG 1/144 Rick Dias” represents the units piloted by veteran AEUG members Apolly and Roberto.
This release features an updated exterior design and newly engineered joint mechanisms to allow for more dynamic posing compared to its original iteration.
The vibrant red “HG 1/144 Rick Dias (Quattro Bajeena Custom)” represents the personal machine of the enigmatic Captain Quattro Bajeena.
This version utilizes the classic HGUC Rick Dias as a base while introducing entirely new molded parts for the head, shoulders, arms, waist, and legs to better match the original animation line art.
The internal structure of the red unit has been heavily upgraded with multi-joint mechanisms in the elbows, knees, and hips to achieve a range of motion on par with modern High Grade standards.
Also included are the signature armaments for both machines, consisting of a Clay Bazooka, a beam saber, and dual beam pistols that can be stored securely on the backpack.
Pre-orders for the “HG 1/144 Rick Dias” and the “HG 1/144 Rick Dias (Quattro Bajeena Custom)” opened on June 2 via Premium Bandai.
The “HG 1/144 Rick Dias” and the “HG 1/144 Rick Dias (Quattro Bajeena Custom)” are each priced at 2,420 yen (approx. $15 USD / £12 GBP), with the standard version scheduled to begin shipping in August 2026 and the Quattro custom following in October 2026.
