Niigata Sakenojin 2026
Last Updated on March 5, 2026

The Toki Messe Convention Center is preparing to host the annual Niigata Sakenojin, a massive celebration of the region’s storied brewing heritage.
Established in 2004, this two day gathering has grown into one of the most significant events for enthusiasts of Japanese rice wine, frequently drawing crowds exceeding 100,000 people.
Attendees will have the opportunity to explore approximately 500 different varieties of sake produced by local breweries, many of which utilize the high quality starch found in the center of the rice grain.
The event program includes a series of stage shows and educational seminars designed to teach guests about the intricate fermentation and production methods used in Niigata.
While general admission to the convention center is provided at no cost, visitors wishing to partake in the tastings can purchase a one day unlimited sampling ticket for 2500 yen.
A selection of regional food stalls will be available on site to provide perfect culinary pairings for the various sake profiles on display.
The venue is conveniently located within a 20 minute walk of Niigata Station, though travelers can also utilize the Sadokisen bus or local taxi services for easier access.
Organizers emphasize that while the festival offers a festive atmosphere for sampling numerous brews, all guests are encouraged to drink responsibly throughout the weekend.
