Vivi mug is new Final Fantasy IX 25th anniversary merch line’s hottest item
Square Enix has announced a delightful new range of merchandise inspired by “Final Fantasy IX”, with a particular focus on the endearing black mage Vivi Ornitier.
“Final Fantasy IX” was originally released in 2000 for the PlayStation and is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
The game holds a special place in the hearts of many fans for its enchanting story, memorable characters, and return to a more traditional fantasy setting compared to its immediate predecessors.
Vivi Ornitier, with his innocent nature and poignant personal journey, is widely considered one of the most endearing and iconic characters in the entire “Final Fantasy” series.
His distinctive appearance, including his large hat and glowing yellow eyes, has made him a popular subject for fan art and merchandise.
Square Enix previously announced another wave of merchandise celebrating the 25th anniversary of “Final Fantasy IX” including a full size replica of Vivi’s iconic hat.
Among the newly announced offerings is the “Final Fantasy IX Face Mug Vivi,” a charming ceramic mug shaped like Vivi’s head, complete with a lid modeled after his iconic pointed hat.
The mug is priced at 3,520 yen and has a generous capacity of 250ml, making it perfect for enjoying daily beverages while showing off your affection for the memorable character.
Alongside the Vivi Face Mug, Square Enix is also releasing a “Final Fantasy IX Vivi Plush Pouch” priced at 3,960 yen.
This large, fluffy pouch measures approximately 18 x 19 cm and features a plush representation of Vivi.
The pouch is designed with a zipper closure and includes a unique pattern on the lining, adding a subtle detail for fans to appreciate.
For collectors and fans of the entire “Final Fantasy IX” cast, Square Enix will also be releasing the “Final Fantasy IX Mini Acrylic Stand Collection”.
This blind-packaged collection features eight different mini acrylic stands showcasing various characters from the game, all with newly drawn illustrations by the talented artist Toshiyuki Itahana, known for his work on the “Final Fantasy” series.
One full box contains all eight types of stands and is priced at 5,280 yen.
The stands range in height from approximately 50 to 65mm, making them ideal for display in various settings.
Rounding out the new merchandise lineup are the “Final Fantasy IX Illustrated Acrylic Stand Vol. 1” and “Final Fantasy IX Illustrated Acrylic Stand Vol. 2,” which are both priced at 1,540 yen.
These larger acrylic stands feature more illustrations by Toshiyuki Itahana, capturing key characters and moments from “Final Fantasy IX”.
The designs of each acrylic stand set are intended to complement each other, making a larger display when placed side-by-side.
The official release date for all these items is set for August 16th, 2025, but fans eager to secure these new additions to their “Final Fantasy IX” collections can now pre-order them through the Square Enix e-STORE.
Square Enix has noted that there is a possibility that these newly announced “Final Fantasy IX” products may be sold in advance at official shop-related events.
