Two New Gundam Manga Series to Debut in June 2026

Japanese publisher Kadokawa has officially announced that two new manga series set within the massive Mobile Suit Gundam universe will debut in June.

The July issue of the monthly Gundam Ace magazine revealed the upcoming additions, which will include one regular manga alongside a four-panel comedy manga series on SD Gundam.

First airing in 1979, the original Mobile Suit Gundam redefined the mecha genre by introducing grounded, military-style stories and complex political conflicts.

The franchise has since expanded into a global phenomenon, spawning countless anime television broadcasts, theatrical films, plastic model kits, and video game adaptations.

Veteran illustrator Kōzō Ōmori is writing and drawing the first new serialization, titled “Shien wa Minovsky no Eikyō o Ukenai”.

Ōmori previously handled the manga adaptation of the Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative anime project, which initially launched in November 2018 and concluded its run in August 2025.

The 17th and final compiled book volume for that adaptation was published by Kadokawa in November 2025.

The artist has an extensive history with the franchise, having illustrated Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and Mobile Suit Gundam 00 2nd.Season for Kerokero Ace magazine, both of which were previously released in English by Bandai Entertainment.

He also worked on the Mobile Suit Gundam UC Bande Dessinée manga from 2010 to 2016, alongside its prequel Episode:0 which ran from 2017 to 2018.

The initial prologue chapter for “Shien wa Minovsky no Eikyō o Ukenai” will appear in the July 2026 issue of Gundam Ace magazine, which goes on sale on June 26.

The full serialization of the new series will formally begin in the September 2026 issue, which goes on sale on July 26.

Artist Kazuya Tani is also launching a separate four-panel comedy manga titled “SD Gundam G Generation Eternal 4-koma”.

The story is directly based on SD Gundam G Generation Eternal, a mobile strategy game for iOS and Android devices that originally launched in April 2025 after its initial announcement in May 2022.

This mobile title is the latest entry in the long-running G Generation series and features super-deformed proportions for mobile suits drawn from various intersecting timelines.

Tani previously created the gourmet manga “Ral Meshi: Ramba Ral no Haitoku Gohan”, which launched in November 2020.

This comedy manga focused on Zeon ace Ramba Ral managing the Club Eden nightclub and enjoying solitary meals, officially ending its run in March 2025 before the sixth and final volume shipped in July 2025.
