Bandai Spirits has announced the upcoming re-release of two exclusive Master Grade (MG) Gunpla kits.

Gunpla enthusiasts will once again soon be able to purchase the limited edition “MG 1/100 Freedom Gundam Ver.2.0 [CROSS CONTRAST COLORS / CLEAR BLUE]” and the “MG 1/100 Justice Gundam [CROSS CONTRAST COLORS / CLEAR GREEN].”

These special editions offer a unique aesthetic twist on two of the most popular mobile suits from the “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED” anime series.

Gunpla refers to the model kits based on the iconic “Gundam” anime franchise.

The Master Grade (MG) line, introduced in 1995, is known for its 1/100 scale, intricate internal frames, enhanced articulation, and high level of detail, providing a sophisticated building experience for hobbyists.

“Mobile Suit Gundam SEED,” which premiered in 2002, is a highly popular entry in the Gundam franchise, known for its dramatic storyline, intricate character relationships, and dynamic mobile suit designs.

Set in the Cosmic Era (CE) timeline, it explores conflicts between genetically engineered humans (Coordinators) and naturally born humans (Naturals).

The Freedom Gundam and Justice Gundam are piloted by the series protagonists Kira Yamato and Athrun Zala, respectively.

They both play important roles in the series’ major battles, making them fan favorites, and their mobile suits are frequent subjects of Gunpla releases.

The “CROSS CONTRAST COLORS” designation of these models means that they utilize a clear plastic that allows light to pass through, highlighting the underlying frame or contrasting with opaque parts, creating a dynamic visual effect when displayed.

The “MG 1/100 Freedom Gundam Ver.2.0 [CROSS CONTRAST COLORS / CLEAR BLUE],” reimagines the mobile suit with a striking clear blue color scheme across its entire frame.

This transparent effect allows builders to appreciate the internal mechanical details of the Ver.2.0 inner frame, which itself boasts advanced articulation.

The Freedom Gundam Ver.2.0, released in 2016, is celebrated for its improved engineering over its predecessor, offering enhanced poseability and detailing.

The kit’s full poseability allows it to recreate its signature “Hi-MAT Full Burst” mode, where all of its armaments, including the Plasma Beam Cannons, Railguns, and Beam Sabers, are deployed simultaneously for a devastating attack.

Complementing the Freedom Gundam is the “MG 1/100 Justice Gundam [CROSS CONTRAST COLORS / CLEAR GREEN].”

This version features a distinct, clear green color for its chest and wing components, contrasting with the main armor’s yellow and a gold metallic finish on its back and shield.

The design is further enhanced by lightning-like decals made from mirror silver, creating a sophisticated and visually rich appearance.

The Justice Gundam is unique for its Fatum-00 backpack, which can detach and function as a sub-flight unit or additional weapon system, and its impressive Beam Boomerang.

This clear green and gold metallic interpretation offers a fresh perspective on the Justice Gundam’s already iconic design.

The “MG 1/100 Freedom Gundam Ver.2.0 [CROSS CONTRAST COLORS / CLEAR BLUE]” will be priced at 6,820 yen (approx. $46.62 USD / £34.34 GBP).

The “MG 1/100 Justice Gundam [CROSS CONTRAST COLORS / CLEAR GREEN]” will be available for 7,150 yen (approx. $48.87 USD / £36.00 GBP).

Both kits are limited edition releases, making them highly desirable for collectors and fans of “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.”

They will be available exclusively at Gundam Base locations in Japan from August 16th, 2025.
