Transformers x Back to the Future Collab Returns with New 40th Anniversary Release

Takara Tomy has opened pre-orders for the return of the fan-favorite Transformers GIGAWATT, celebrating the 40th anniversary of Back to the Future with a special commemorative package edition.

Released in 1985, Back to the Future became one of cinema’s most beloved science fiction adventures, following teenager Marty McFly and eccentric inventor Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown through a series of time-traveling adventures powered by the iconic DeLorean time machine.

Originally introduced in 2020 as part of a crossover between Transformers and Back to the Future, GIGAWATT combined the legendary DeLorean with the Transformers universe by turning the famous movie vehicle into a fully transforming robot.

The 40th Anniversary Package Version brings the collectible back with updated commemorative packaging while retaining the complete transformation between its vehicle and robot forms.

In vehicle mode, GIGAWATT faithfully recreates the instantly recognizable DeLorean time machine, complete with the futuristic equipment that made it one of the most iconic movie vehicles ever created.

The figure transforms into a robot mode inspired by Doc Brown himself, incorporating facial features modeled after the brilliant scientist who invented time travel in the film series.

The Transformers GIGAWATT (40th Anniversary Package Version) is priced at ¥6,600 (approx. $46 USD / £33 GBP) and is available to pre-order through hobby goods retailers such as HobbyLink Japan.
