Toei reveals first teaser for upcoming World Trigger anime reboot

Fans attending the Jump Festa ’26 event on Saturday were treated to a first look at a bold new direction for the World Trigger franchise.
Toei Animation revealed a teaser video for a “Reboot Project” that aims to revitalize the anime adaptation of Daisuke Ashihara’s sci-fi strategy manga.

Rather than continuing directly from where the third season left off, this new project will return to the series’ roots.
The reboot is set to re-adapt the original manga, starting from the very first chapter.

The production staff has described the initiative as a “powered-up World Trigger 1st Season,” indicating a focus on improving the quality and pacing of the early storylines.
The confirmed scope for this re-adaptation includes the Border Enlistment Arc, the high-stakes Large-Scale Invasion Arc, and the tactical B-Rank Wars Arc, effectively retelling the events originally covered in the 2014-2016 broadcast but with updated production values.

This announcement marks a significant shift for the anime, which first premiered over a decade ago in October 2014.
The original series was followed by a sequel season in 2015, and then a long hiatus before returning with a third season in 2021.

By revisiting the earlier arcs, Toei Animation appears to be aiming to bring the visual fidelity of the beginning of the story in line with the acclaimed quality of the later seasons.
The World Trigger manga, which launched in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2013 before moving to Jump SQ in 2018, continues to be a popular fixture in the sci-fi genre despite health-related hiatuses by author Daisuke Ashihara.

The series recently shipped its 29th compiled book volume in Japan earlier this month.
While the “Reboot Project” has been officially confirmed, a specific broadcast date has not yet been announced, though the teaser trailer is now available to view on YouTube:
