The ultimate penguin collab continues as new Tuxedo Sam and Pingu merch is revealed
Prize manufacturer Taito has announced a new prize item that continues a hugely popular collaboration between two famous penguin characters, Tuxedosam and Pingu.
The new “Tuxedosam x Pingu Pom-Pom Cushion” brings together a classic Sanrio character with the star of the beloved stop-motion animated series.
Tuxedosam is a character from the Sanrio universe, a dapper and sophisticated penguin from the Tuxedo Kingdom at the South Pole who is known for his large collection of bow ties.
Pingu is the star of the classic Swiss-British children’s show of the same name, a charming and mischievous young penguin known for his expressive “Pinganese” language.
This latest piece of merchandise brings the two popular penguins together again, following a previous merchandise collection and a collaboration pop-up shop, both of which occurred earlier this year.
The cushion is approximately 33 centimeters in size, and is decorated with pom-poms around its edge.
It is available in two different designs, with one version featuring an illustration of Tuxedosam and Pingu playing musical instruments together.
The second design shows the two characters standing side-by-side while holding balloons.
As a “prize” item, this product will not be available for direct purchase at retail stores and it will be exclusively available to be won in crane games and other arcade machines.
The “Tuxedosam x Pingu Pom-Pom Cushion” is scheduled to begin its rollout in amusement facilities across Japan during the second week of August 2025.
