Tales of Phantasia gets new 30th anniversary chronograph watch

A sophisticated new timepiece is set to be released in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Tales of Phantasia, the legendary role-playing game that launched Bandai Namco’s enduring franchise.
Originally released in December 1995 on the Super Famicom, Tales of Phantasia introduced players to the story of Cress Albane and Mint Adnade, establishing the series’ signature action-based battle system and high-fantasy storytelling.

The new “Tales of Phantasia 30th Anniversary Chronograph Watch” is designed to evoke the game’s nostalgic scenery, specifically the World Tree Yggdrasil and the snow-covered town of Ary.

A standout feature is the “Sun & Moon” mechanism located at the 3 o’clock position, which displays a pixel-art style illustration of the World Tree that rotates once every 24 hours to show the transition between day and night.

Considerable attention has been paid to the watch hands, which required delicate engineering to mold into specific shapes at such a small scale.

The minute hand is modeled after Cress’s sword, treated with luminous paint to glow red in the dark, while the hour hand mimics Mint’s staff, glowing with a gentle yellow light to represent her healing magic.

To mark the 30-year milestone, the dial is set with three genuine melee diamonds, and the 6 o’clock position features metal accents inspired by Cress’s bandana and Mint’s costume.
Constructed for daily use, the watch features a 42mm stainless steel case, crystal glass, and a genuine leather belt.

It is powered by a reliable Japanese Chronograph Quartz movement and includes reinforced waterproofing.

In a tribute to the game’s debut, production is strictly limited to 1,995 units.
Each watch features a unique edition number engraved on the case back and arrives in a special wood-grain style box accompanied by a guarantee card illustrating the original game package.

This release joins a wave of high-end RPG merchandise announced this week, including the Kingdom Hearts II Formism Roxas figure and a huge new Dragon Quest Walk XL Slamichi Plush.

The watch is priced at 29,700 yen (approx. $200.00 USD / £158.00 GBP), and orders are currently being accepted via the Fulton Japan official website.
A second watch has also been announced, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Tales of the Abyss and featuring a Moon Phase mechanism.
