Super Danganronpa 2 remake will change who lives and who dies

A new version of the classic murder mystery game Super Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair has been officially announced.
Super Danganronpa 2×2 was revealed during a Nintendo Direct presentation held on the 12th of September.

The original Super Danganronpa 2, which was first released in 2012, is a cult classic visual novel from the developer Spike Chunsoft.

This new release is a remake of the original, with updated visuals and presentation.

However, its most significant new feature is the inclusion of a “completely new, full-length original scenario.”

According to the official website, this new story is an alternate-universe take on the original, where the victims and the killers for the game’s infamous “class trials” are completely different.

The new scenario is said to be of a similar volume to the original story, offering a substantial and completely fresh murder mystery for both new players and long-time fans who already know the solutions to the original game.

The reveal trailer for the new game showed the iconic character Monokuma announcing the start of a “new class trial.”

This remake offers a unique and exciting “what if” scenario for one of the most beloved games in the genre.
This was just one of a number of major announcements made during the presentation.
A major double announcement was also made for the Super Mario franchise, with a new animated film, “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie,” confirmed for an April 2026 release, and a new Nintendo Switch game, “Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2,” announced for an October 2nd release.

A brand-new Pokémon life simulation game, Pokémon Pokopia, was also revealed for a Spring 2026 release.

In one of the most surprising reveals, Nintendo’s infamous 1995 console, the Virtual Boy, is being revived for the Nintendo Switch Online service, and will require a new, replica headset peripheral.

Other announcements included a new, real-life “Talking Flower” from Super Mario Bros. Wonder and a set of interactive amiibo for the upcoming Kirby’s Air Rider.

Super Danganronpa 2×2 is being released for a wide range of platforms.

It has been announced for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, and it is scheduled to be released in 2026.
