Square Enix Fully Reveals New Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Zack Fair Figure as Pre-Orders Open
Image by Charlotte DavisSquare Enix has officially opened pre-orders for a new high-end Zack Fair action figure based on his appearance in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, bringing the former SOLDIER 1st Class into their upgraded PLAY ARTS SHIN range.
The “FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH PLAY ARTS SHIN Zack Fair SOLDIER 1st CLASS” recreates Zack with a completely redesigned articulation system, adjustable eyes, and a selection of parts built around both his battle scenes and more relaxed moments from the game.

Zack has become one of the most important characters within the wider Final Fantasy VII story, first appearing briefly in the original 1997 game before Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII explored his time as a SOLDIER, friendship with Cloud Strife, and connection to the Buster Sword.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth gives Zack a much larger presence within Square Enix’s ongoing remake project, with his role forming one of the major mysteries surrounding the altered events of the new trilogy.

PLAY ARTS SHIN itself was introduced as an evolution of Square Enix’s long-running PLAY ARTS KAI figure line, retaining the larger format while completely reworking the internal joints to provide smoother movement without the clicking mechanism used by many earlier releases.
The line has gradually expanded across the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth cast, with Cloud Strife, Vincent Valentine and Tifa Lockhart already receiving figures before Square Enix recently opened orders for a new Sephiroth release featuring his Masamune and detachable black wing.

Zack’s new figure is based directly on his in-game Final Fantasy VII Rebirth character model, recreating his spiked black hair, SOLDIER uniform and muscular build with realistic proportions.
Square Enix has paid close attention to the different materials across his outfit, including the folds of his pants alongside the heavier appearance of his boots, belts, and armored sections.

The upgraded PLAY ARTS SHIN articulation is used throughout the body, with redesigned hip and joint components allowing poses to transition more smoothly than the older ratcheted PLAY ARTS KAI system.
Both of Zack’s included faces also feature movable eyes, allowing his gaze to be repositioned depending on the pose.

The standard portrait captures his usual confident expression, while an interchangeable battle face gives him a more intense look for combat displays.
His signature Buster Sword is naturally the centerpiece of the accessory selection, with metallic paint used across the blade alongside weathering and rust details that give the oversized weapon a more worn appearance.

The sword retains its two Materia slots, with six interchangeable colored Materia parts included so fans can change the combination fitted into the weapon.
Additional interchangeable hands expand the posing options further, while dedicated arm parts allow Zack to be displayed standing with his arms crossed in one of his familiar poses.

The completed PVC and ABS figure stands approximately 30cm tall, placing Zack alongside the other larger-format characters already released within the PLAY ARTS SHIN range.

Fans looking to build out the wider Final Fantasy VII Rebirth cast have also recently seen pre-orders open for the PLAY ARTS SHIN Sephiroth, while Square Enix has also been revealing merchandise for the games at the opposite end of the scale through its smaller Adorable Arts Petit figure collection.

The “FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH PLAY ARTS SHIN Zack Fair SOLDIER 1st CLASS” is priced at ¥28,600 (approximately $184 USD / £138 GBP).

Pre-orders are now open through reputable hobby goods retailers, including HobbyLink Japan, with the figure currently scheduled for release in January 2027.
