Snail-Themed Metroidvania “DeadRoot” Announced for Xbox Series and PC

Finish Line Games, the developer previously known for Robots at Midnight, officially announced their new project titled DeadRoot, on June 6, 2026.

This upcoming title is a 3D Metroidvania action adventure game currently in development for Xbox Series and PC via the Steam platform.

While the announcement was made on June 6, 2026, the studio has not yet confirmed a specific release date for the project.

Players will take on the unique role of a small snail navigating a dangerous world where they must face off against much larger and more aggressive enemies such as swarming flies and stalking rats.

The gameplay experience emphasizes brutal combat and momentum, allowing players to sever limbs and perform executions on the various creatures they encounter.

Exploration is a core component of the title, featuring interconnected ruins and dungeons that players can traverse by climbing walls and squeezing through hidden passages.

To progress through the mysterious fallen kingdoms, players must solve puzzles and use distant levers that can be triggered by firing arrows.

Throughout the journey, mentors and friends provide guidance and teach new abilities to help the protagonist acquire powerful weapons and armor.

The narrative task involves venturing deep beneath the roots to restore balance to a world that has been plunged into total chaos.

DeadRoot was featured during the Future Games Show Summer Showcase 2026, where the official announcement trailer provided a first look at the fast-paced combat and screen-filling bosses.
