Sanrio Reveals Colorful New 55th Anniversary Merch Collection
Sanrio has unveiled a new merchandise collection celebrating the 55th anniversary of their official “Sanrio Shops,” bringing together a wide range of gift-themed collectibles inspired by colorful wrapping paper and decorative ribbon seals.
Sanrio has become one of Japan’s most recognizable character brands thanks to icons including Hello Kitty, My Melody, Cinnamoroll, Kuromi and Pompompurin, with the “Sanrio Shops” serving as the home of the company’s character merchandise in Japan for more than five decades.
Designed around the theme of giving gifts, the anniversary collection dresses each featured character in matching wrapping paper-inspired outfits accented with floral ribbon decorations, while gold-colored anniversary logo charms and metal accents appear throughout the range to commemorate “55 Years of Sanrio Shops”.
Leading the collection is a Hello Kitty Plush, priced at ¥3,696 (approx. $24 USD / £18 GBP), featuring a wrapping paper-inspired outfit, a flower ribbon-style decoration and a commemorative metal anniversary plate.
Mascot Holders, priced at ¥2,596 each (approx. $17 USD / £13 GBP), are available in ten different character designs, each wearing matching anniversary outfits finished with the same floral ribbon-inspired decoration as the larger plush.
A Strap, priced at ¥1,496 (approx. $10 USD / £7 GBP), combines a three-dimensional mascot charm with a printed ribbon and an anniversary logo centerpiece, creating a fun accessory for bags and keys.
A Sticker Set, priced at ¥550 (approx. $4 USD / £3 GBP), includes transparent flake stickers finished with gold foil details that add an extra premium touch to the colorful artwork.
A Tote Bag, priced at ¥2,200 (approx. $14 USD / £11 GBP), is designed to resemble a gift bag and is finished with a commemorative metal anniversary charm.
A Vanity Pouch, priced at ¥2,596 (approx. $17 USD / £13 GBP), features a ribbon-shaped handle alongside the collection’s wrapping paper-inspired pattern and matching anniversary charm.
A Tissue Pouch, priced at ¥1,650 (approx. $11 USD / £8 GBP), combines a compact zip pouch with a built-in tissue holder on the reverse for added everyday practicality.
An Eco Bag, also priced at ¥1,650 (approx. $11 USD / £8 GBP), folds neatly into its own matching storage case, which also includes a commemorative anniversary charm.
A Paper and Bag Set, priced at ¥1,397 (approx. $9 USD / £7 GBP), includes decorative paper in two sizes, letter paper, envelopes, gift bags and matching stickers for wrapping presents, displaying photos or creative projects.
Secret Mascots, priced at ¥990 each (approx. $6 USD / £5 GBP), include ten blind-boxed designs decorated with gold ribbon seal-inspired details, while complete sets will also be available subject to stock.
The collection will be available through Sanrio stores, participating department store Sanrio corners and the Sanrio Online Shop, from August 5, 2026 and selected stores across Kyushu, Hiroshima, Yamaguchi, Kagawa, Ehime and Okinawa following on August 6, 2026.
