Sanrio and Evangelion team up to release a new line of collaboration merchandise

A new collaboration has been announced, which will be a crossover between the iconic anime series Evangelion and the beloved Sanrio Characters.

The collaboration is being held in conjunction with “TOPPA!!! BASE AKIBA,” a pop-up store located inside Akihabara Station that hosts a rotating series of collaborations.

This new event is a continuation of the long-running “Evangelion x Sanrio Characters” partnership, which first began in 2013.

This new wave of the collaboration features a brand-new lineup of character pairings:

• Shinji Ikari x Cinnamoroll
• Kaworu Nagisa x Kuromi
• Rei Ayanami x My Melody
• Asuka Langley Soryu x Pompompurin
• Mari Illustrious Makinami x Hangyodon

A wide range of exclusive and pre-sale merchandise will be sold at the pop-up, based on these new pairings, and a separate line of “Evangelion x Hello Kitty” goods will also be available.

A key feature of the in-store event will be a special, paid “Acrylic Card Print Experience.”

This will allow visitors to create a special, customized acrylic card that features a random character and is printed with the date of their visit.

A gift-with-purchase campaign will also be held at the store.

For every ¥3,000 spent on merchandise, customers will receive a free, random postcard, with a total of five different designs available.

A separate lineup of different exclusive goods will also be sold online through the “Seven Net Shopping” e-commerce platform from the 14th of October.

The “TOPPA!!! BASE AKIBA” pop-up store is located inside the ecute AKIHABARA shopping area on the first floor of the JR Akihabara Station. 

The “Evangelion x Sanrio Characters” collaboration is scheduled to begin in store on Saturday, the 4th of October, and will run until the 30th of October, 2025.

Online sales will also take place via the Fan Xross Mall online store from the 4th of October at 10:00 Japan Standard Time and via the Seven Net Shopping page from the 14th of October at 14:00 JST.
