Re-Release Confirmed for Gundam’s Exclusive 08th MS Team Gouf Gunpla Kit
Bandai is bringing back another Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team Gunpla, with the HGUC 1/144 Gouf Flight Type officially returning for a new production run.
The MS-07H-8 Gouf Flight Type was created as part of Zeon’s attempts to give its ground-based mobile suits genuine flight capability, pushing the Gouf platform far beyond the conventional MS-07B design.
Its heavily modified lower body houses thermonuclear jet engines and additional propulsion equipment, while enlarged rear equipment, skirt-mounted stabilizers, and a substantially larger backpack support the machine’s aerial movement.
The Gouf Flight Type appears during the closing stages of The 08th MS Team, where two units are deployed as escorts for the Apsaras III before attempting to return to the Kerguelen as Zeon’s Southeast Asian base falls apart.
The mobile suit also receives a more combat-focused appearance in the short film “Battle in Three Dimensions,” where a Gouf Flight Type piloted by Zhukov uses its aerial mobility to ambush Shiro Amada and the 08th MS Team before facing the Gundam Ez8 at close range.
Bandai first released the current HGUC interpretation as a Premium Bandai exclusive in May 2018, replacing large portions of the underlying HGUC Gouf Custom with new parts created specifically for the flight-equipped variant.
The returning kit recreates the machine’s grey and dark blue color scheme through molded parts, while new sections cover its shoulders, torso, waist, legs, and enlarged backpack.
Its thick lower-leg units reproduce the thermonuclear jet engines that define the Flight Type, with the shape of the surrounding armor helping give the model a much heavier profile than the standard Gouf.
The rear waist section also incorporates additional thrusters and exposed power piping, while stabilizer fins extend from the skirt armor to complete the mobile suit’s flight-oriented configuration.
Bandai has given the large backpack its own molded structure as well, with movable stabilizers adding some adjustment when setting up airborne or forward-moving poses.
Its weapons consist of the Gatling Shield, three-barrel 35mm Gatling Gun, and Heat Saber, retaining the heavily armed close-combat setup associated with the Gouf family.
The re-release has been announced while The 08th MS Team is receiving several other Gunpla releases centered on mobile suits from the OVA.
Bandai is also bringing back the HG 1/144 MS-06RD-4 High Mobility Test Type Zaku, recreating Aina Sahalin’s experimental machine with its Zaku upper body and heavily developed thruster-equipped legs.
The HG 1/144 Ground Type Gundam (Parachute Pack) is receiving another production run as well, complete with the large equipment pack from the anime’s opening and the replacement Ground Type GM head used for Karen Joshua’s “GM Head” configuration.
Alongside those returning kits, Bandai has created the first RG 1/144 Ground Type Gundam, giving Shiro Amada’s primary mobile suit a completely new Real Grade model with greater mechanical detail and articulation built around combat poses such as firing the 180mm Cannon from a kneeling position.
Pre-orders for the “HGUC 1/144 Gouf Flight Type” re-release opened through Premium Bandai Japan on September 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM JST.
A corresponding Premium Bandai US re-release has not yet been confirmed, although Japanese Premium Bandai Gunpla reissues are frequently followed by separate US listings, so American builders may see pre-orders open at a later date.
The kit is priced at ¥2,530 (approximately $16 USD / £12 GBP) and is scheduled to ship in February 2027.
