Pre-orders open for new Gundam SEED FREEDOM HG 1/144 Destiny Gundam Spec II model kit

Gunpla fans can now order a new Destiny Gundam model kit based on the Gundam SEED FREEDOM film.
BANDAI SPIRITS has confirmed the release date for the new “HG 1/144 Destiny Gundam Spec II [Final Battle Image Color]” Gunpla model kit and have begun accepting pre-orders.

This special edition High Grade kit replicates the Destiny Gundam Spec II’s appearance during its climactic final battle in the recently released film Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM.

The Mobile Suit Gundam SEED series, which began in 2002, is one of the most popular and commercially successful branches of the broader Gundam franchise.

The latest installment, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, released in early 2024, continued the dramatic story of its established characters and introduced powerful new mobile suits.

The Destiny Gundam, originally piloted by Shinn Asuka in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, received a significant upgrade to the “Spec II” in the new film and played a crucial role in the movie’s intense closing battles.

This “Final Battle Image Color” variant of the HG Destiny Gundam Spec II is designed to faithfully recreate the mobile suit’s state during the film’s intense climax.

The most distinctive feature of this kit is its specialized molding color, which precisely expresses the dramatic effect of the joints glowing red, as seen during the Destiny Gundam Spec II’s peak performance in the movie’s final battle.

The kit includes newly designed foil stickers, likely to enhance specific details and effects, particularly around the “glowing” joint areas or other subtle markings from the final battle depiction.

A significant accessory included with the kit is the Prototype Type 35 Kai Railgun, an important part of the Destiny Gundam Spec II’s arsenal in SEED FREEDOM.

Given the immense popularity of the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED series and the iconic status of the Destiny Gundam, this Premium Bandai exclusive Gunpla kit is expected to be in high demand.

Collectors and fans eager to secure this unique rendition of the Destiny Gundam Spec II are encouraged to place their pre-orders promptly on the Premium Bandai website.

The kit will be priced at 2,970 yen (approximately $19 USD) and pre-orders are currently planned to ship to customers in August 2025.
