Pre-orders open for detailed new figure of METAL GEAR SOLID’s Metal Gear REX

Pre-orders have officially opened for a new “Chogokin” figure of the iconic Metal Gear REX from the video game Metal Gear Solid.
The long-awaited figure was fully detailed on Thursday, the 28th of August, by manufacturer Bandai Spirits.

“Chogokin,” which translates to “Super Alloy,” is one of Japan’s most historic and prestigious toy brands, famous for its high-end, collectible figures of robots and mecha that feature a significant amount of die-cast metal.

Metal Gear REX is the bipedal, nuclear-equipped tank from the classic 1998 PlayStation game, a design which has made it one of the most famous and beloved mechs in video game history.

This new product brings the iconic video game weapon to life as a premium, die-cast metal collectible, designed to capture the texture and weight of a real weapon.

The figure incorporates a number of special features and gimmicks.

An “armor deployment” gimmick allows various armor panels to be opened, exposing the detailed internal frame and the die-cast metal parts within.

The head of the figure is also equipped with an LED light-up gimmick.

Its signature, massive railgun is recreated in a large scale, and a special display stand is included to ensure a stable display.

The stand also comes with two different types of support joints, allowing the figure to be posed in either a standard or a forward-leaning, aggressive stance.

A prototype of the new figure is currently on display for the public to view.

The exhibit is part of the “METAL GEAR SOLID POP UP STORE in SHIBUYA PARCO,” which is currently running.

The “Chogokin Metal Gear REX” is priced at ¥36,300 (approx. $247 USD/£182 GBP) and it is scheduled to be released in February of 2026.
Pre-orders can be placed via most reputable hobby goods retailers.
