Pompompurin leads ‘2025 Sanrio Character Ranking’ vote at the half-way stage
The interim results are in for the highly anticipated “2025 Sanrio Character Ranking,” the annual popularity poll celebrating its 40th anniversary this year!
With fans around the globe casting their votes for their beloved Sanrio characters, the mid-ranking has revealed a thrilling race for the top spot.
This interim ranking sees a trio of beloved Sanrio dog characters dominating the top three positions.
Currently leading the charge is the golden retriever Pompompurin, who has surged to first place.
Having previously held the crown three times, Pompompurin is now in a strong position to reclaim the top spot for the first time since 2016. His current lead marks a significant step towards potentially ending Cinnamoroll’s impressive five-year reign.
Cinnamoroll, the fluffy white puppy who has held the No. 1 position since 2020, currently sits in second place.
Rounding out the top three is Pochacco, another popular Sanrio dog character, who held the second spot in last year’s final results.
Further down the top 10, My Melody and Little Twin Stars, both celebrating their 50th anniversary this year, are showing strong momentum, currently ranked 6th and 8th respectively.
Fan-favorite Hangyodon, the melancholic but lovable fish, holds the 7th position.
Ahirunopekkle, who has seen increasing support, has finally broken into the top 10.
Meanwhile, Usahana and Chococat, who enjoy significant popularity in North America, have also climbed the ranks, setting the stage for an exciting final stretch.

The top 3 in the current rankings have offered comments to fans to thank them for their votes so far, as well as to appeal to new voters to choose them!

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Sanrio Character Ranking, a special “40th Anniversary Award” will be presented to the character that ranks in 40th place. In the interim results, this special honor goes to Jewelpet.
Voting remains open until Sunday, May 25th and the final results will be announced at “SANRIO FES 2025,” held at Pacifico Yokohama on June 28th and 29th.
This event promises a grand celebration, including the character ranking announcement, anniversary stages, and special live performances.
