Pokémon and adidas Unveil New 30th Anniversary Sneaker Collab Collection Ahead of Fall 2026 Release

Three of Pokémon’s most recognizable characters are being transformed into some of adidas’ boldest sneakers yet as part of a new anniversary collection expected to arrive during Fall 2026.

The upcoming “Pokémon x adidas 30th Anniversary Collection” celebrates three decades since the original Pokémon Red and Green games launched in Japan, beginning a franchise that now spans video games, animation, trading cards, movies and merchandise around the world.

The latest designs revealed for the collection focus on Pikachu, Charizard and Gengar, with each sneaker incorporating physical details inspired by the featured Pokémon rather than relying on simple character graphics or familiar color schemes.

The Pokémon x adidas Adistar XLG 2.0 “Gengar” transforms the chunky running-inspired silhouette with several shades of purple, combining a darker mesh base with a light lilac support cage and layered panels that match the Ghost and Poison-type Pokémon’s distinctive coloring.

Gengar’s narrowed red eyes replace the conventional Three Stripes branding along the outer side, while its wide white grin stretches across the front of the sneaker to give the design an immediately recognizable expression.

Pointed sections around the heel reference the spikes across Gengar’s body, with additional character artwork on the tongue, themed insoles and a decorative lace accessory completing the playful design.

The Pokémon x adidas Superstar “Charizard” takes a more dramatic approach, covering the classic shell-toe sneaker in textured orange material designed to resemble the Fire and Flying-type Pokémon’s scales.

Large removable-looking wing details extend from the lacing area across both sides of the sneaker, with teal undersides recreating the contrasting color found beneath Charizard’s wings.

A cream shell toe and midsole break up the orange upper, while Charizard artwork, themed insoles and Poké Ball and character lace decorations add smaller details for fans to discover.

The Pokémon x adidas Pro Model “Pikachu” applies bright yellow faux fur to the high-top basketball silhouette, creating a soft textured finish inspired by the franchise’s Electric-type mascot.

Black laces and matching sections around the sole provide contrast, while large Pikachu graphics appear across the sides and tongue alongside a dedicated character name tab integrated into the Three Stripes area.

The sneaker also includes Pikachu and Poké Ball lace decorations, with a removable lightning bolt-shaped tail charm offering one of the collection’s most distinctive accessories.

All three sneakers feature custom Pokémon branding, character-themed insoles and packaging details, giving the collaboration a much stronger character identity than the more understated Pokémon x adidas collection released in 2020.

The Gengar Adistar XLG 2.0, Charizard Superstar and Pikachu Pro Model are expected to form part of a larger anniversary range that may also include additional footwear, apparel and accessories for adults and younger fans.

Other designs connected to the collection reportedly include Mewtwo versions of the ZX 8000 and Samba OG, alongside additional Superstar colorways inspired by Pikachu, Charmander and Charmeleon.

Those earlier reported sneakers appear to use more traditional color blocking and character portraits, while the three latest designs stand apart through their oversized wings, textured materials and Pokémon-inspired sculptural details.

Prices for the Pokémon x adidas Adistar XLG 2.0 “Gengar,” Superstar “Charizard” and Pro Model “Pikachu” have not yet been confirmed, although the collection is expected to be sold through adidas and selected footwear retailers.

The Pokémon x adidas 30th Anniversary Collection is currently expected to launch during Fall 2026, with exact release dates, regional availability, and the complete product lineup still awaiting an official announcement.
