Pokémon and Aardman Reveal New Look at Sirfetch’d & Pichu Stop-Motion Adventure

New details have emerged for “Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu,” the upcoming stop-motion animation collaboration between The Pokémon Company International and acclaimed animation studio Aardman.
The latest update was shared during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France, where Phil Rynda, Director of Original Animation at The Pokémon Company International, appeared as part of an Aardman panel presentation.

During the event, attendees were given a closer look at the project through newly unveiled artwork featuring the production’s two lead characters, Sirfetch’d and Pichu.
The newly released artwork offers a glimpse at the distinctive visual style being developed for the stop-motion series, which brings Pokémon into Aardman’s signature handcrafted animation format.

For decades, Pokémon has remained one of the world’s most successful entertainment franchises, spanning video games, animation, trading cards, films, and merchandise enjoyed by audiences across multiple generations.

Sirfetch’d, the evolved form of Galarian Farfetch’d, is known for wielding a large leek lance and shield in battle, while Pichu remains one of the franchise’s most recognizable and energetic baby Pokémon.

“Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu” will take viewers on a region-spanning adventure through Galar.

The series will follow Sirfetch’d and Pichu as they travel through the region attempting to help and protect Pokémon they encounter along the way.
Although their intentions are always noble, their plans will frequently go off course, resulting in unexpected situations, humorous mishaps, and challenging encounters.

Throughout their journey, the pair will face dangers, form new alliances, encounter rivalries, and cross paths with a variety of extraordinary Pokémon.
At the heart of the story will be the growing friendship between the two heroes as they continue venturing into unfamiliar territory together.

Phil Rynda also spoke about the collaboration itself, describing the partnership with Aardman as an exciting opportunity driven by both companies’ shared commitment to producing high-quality animation.
The project represents one of the most significant creative collaborations between Pokémon and an external animation studio in recent years, combining Pokémon’s globally recognized characters with Aardman’s celebrated stop-motion expertise.

While specific release dates have yet to be announced, “Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu” is currently scheduled to debut in 2027.
