Pizza Hut Japan Launches New Strawberry KitKat Pizza Melt

Pizza Hut Japan has unveiled a unique dessert hybrid to celebrate the national “Strawberry Day” on January 15.
The “Handy Melts Sweet and Sour Strawberry – made with KITKAT®” serves as the second installment in the chain’s collaboration with Nestlé’s popular chocolate brand, following a positive reception to their previous partnership.

“Strawberry Day” is a cultural marker in Japan derived from the linguistic wordplay known as “goroawase,” where the numbers for the date 1-1-5 can be read as “ichigo,” the Japanese word for strawberry.

This new release reimagines the chain’s “Handy Melt” format, which typically consists of portable, calzone-style savory snacks designed for one-handed eating.
For this dessert variation, the crispy wheat dough shell is stuffed with a surprising combination of ingredients: melted mozzarella cheese and whole pieces of “Sweet and Sour Strawberry” flavored KitKat bars.

The heat from the pizza oven melts the chocolate and cheese together while maintaining the crunch of the wafer, creating a complex flavor profile that balances the tartness of the berries with the savory notes of the dairy.
The product is served in a specially designed pink box featuring strawberry illustrations, which the company highlights as being “photogenic” and ideal for social media sharing.

This limited-time menu item is available at Pizza Hut locations across Japan from Thursday, January 15, 2026, until mid-February.
The dessert is priced at 490 yen (approx. $3.40 USD / £2.65 GBP) for takeaway customers and 700 yen (approx. $4.85 USD / £3.80 GBP) for delivery orders.
The “Handy Melts Sweet and Sour Strawberry – made with KITKAT®” is a Japan-exclusive release and will not be sold in other international territories.
