Persona Announces Major New 30th Anniversary Exhibition for 2027
Persona is getting a major new exhibition as part of its 30th anniversary celebrations, giving fans the chance to explore three decades of the RPG series through original material and areas recreating its different worlds.
Titled “PERSONA 30th EX.,” the exhibition will take over Tokyo’s Ueno Royal Museum in early 2027, with Atlus promising previously unseen materials alongside displays designed to let visitors experience the settings and atmosphere of the games in person.
Persona officially celebrated its 30th anniversary on September 20, 2026, exactly three decades after Megami Ibunroku Persona, later released internationally as Revelations: Persona, launched for PlayStation in Japan.
The series has since expanded through Persona 2, Persona 3, Persona 4 and Persona 5 alongside numerous enhanced editions and spin-offs, becoming one of Atlus’ biggest RPG franchises.
Its games combine supernatural threats with more familiar parts of everyday life, increasingly placing school, friendships and relationships alongside stories built around Personas, Shadows and hidden worlds shaped by human emotions.
“PERSONA 30th EX.” will celebrate that history with a large-scale exhibition covering the franchise, although Atlus has deliberately kept most of the individual displays under wraps for now.
The first announcement confirms that visitors will be able to see material that has never previously been shown publicly, alongside recreated areas based on the worlds of the Persona games.
Exactly which games, locations and original materials will be represented hasn’t yet been revealed, with a larger information update scheduled for October 23.
Atlus has also teased that something connected with the exhibition will take place on January 20, one day before it officially opens, although no details have been shared about what that will involve.
The exhibition joins an already extensive lineup of Persona 30th anniversary events taking place across Japan.
One of the biggest is “PERSONA Memoria,” a separate traveling event built around attractions, mini-games, collaboration food and merchandise inspired by the wider series, with stops in Tokyo, Osaka and Hakata.
New anniversary artwork has also imagined Shadow versions of protagonists from across the franchise, giving several of Persona’s player-controlled heroes darker counterparts of their own.
Persona 5 Royal has recently expanded the anniversary celebrations into gaming collaborations as well, with Joker, Panther and Queen heading to Initial D THE ARCADE for a street-racing crossover beginning in October.
A separate Rocket League collaboration will bring Morgana’s transformed Mona Car into the game alongside Persona-themed decals, wheels and other rewards.
Unlike those shorter collaborations, “PERSONA 30th EX.” is being positioned as a dedicated retrospective for the franchise itself, with the museum setting giving Atlus room to focus on artwork, development material and recreated environments from across Persona’s history.
“PERSONA 30th EX.” will run at the Ueno Royal Museum from January 21 through February 7, 2027, with ticket details and further information about the exhibition set to be revealed on October 23.
The Ueno Royal Museum is located inside Tokyo’s Ueno Park, a short walk from Ueno Station, making the exhibition relatively easy to reach for visitors staying elsewhere in the city.
