Orders open for exclusive pink Zaku II Gunpla kit based on Japanese TV drama
A new Gunpla kit has been revealed that is based on the live-action television drama “Mass Production Type Ruka -Plastic Model Club’s Blue Counterattack-”.
The drama, which stars Haruka Kaki and Ayame Tsutsui of the popular idol group Nogizaka46, is a story centered on the world of the plastic model building hobby.
The new “HG 1/144 Mass Production Type Ruka’s Custom Zaku” scale model is the first official Gunpla to be released from the show.
The kit is a customized version of the classic Zaku II mobile suit and features a unique pink and light blue color scheme inspired by the design of the drama’s own title logo.
A number of exclusive bonus items are also included with this special release.
The kit comes with a “limited marking seal” sheet, which features markings that were handwritten by the drama’s two lead actresses, Haruka Kaki and Ayame Tsutsui.
The packaging for the model is also a special, drama-collaboration-exclusive design.
The kit is equipped with a standard set of Zaku armaments, including a Zaku Machine Gun, a Zaku Bazooka, and a Heat Hawk.
This release offers a unique, “meta” collectible for fans of both the drama and the Gunpla hobby itself.
Pre-orders for the new kit began today, Thursday, the 28th of August, on the Premium Bandai online store.
The “HG 1/144 Mass Production Type Ruka’s Custom Zaku” is priced at ¥2,970 (approx. $20 USD/£15 GBP) and it is scheduled to be shipped to customers in March 2026.
