Orders Open as Sakura Miku’s Award-Winning Fan Design Becomes New Premium Scale Figure
Image by Charlotte DavisGood Smile Company has officially opened pre-orders for a new Sakura Miku figure that beautifully recreates an award-winning illustration of Hatsune Miku’s springtime persona.
The new “G.S.Collection Sakura Miku: GSC Illustration Contest Ver.” transforms the grand-prize winning Sakura Miku artwork from the fourth Hatsune Miku × GSC Illustration Contest into a 1/7-scale figure.
Sakura Miku is the popular seasonal variation of Hatsune Miku that replaces her familiar teal coloring with pink twin-tails, cherry blossoms, and other elements associated with the arrival of spring in Japan.
The character has become a regular part of Miku’s seasonal merchandise and events, including the long-running Sakura Miku collaborations with the cities of Hirosaki and Hakodate in northern Japan.
Good Smile’s fourth Hatsune Miku × GSC Illustration Contest was held during 2025 and challenged artists to create new illustrations of the Piapro Characters across 12 different themes, with each grand-prize winner seeing their design turned into a scale figure.
fusuma’s winning entry was created around an “official outfit” Sakura Miku theme, depicting the pink-haired virtual singer glancing back while holding a collection of translucent balloons.
The new figure closely recreates the delicate atmosphere of the original illustration, with Miku’s enormous twin-tails flowing outward behind her while her skirt and tie appear to move in the wind.
Clear parts are used throughout the hair to create a translucent pink gradient, with individual cherry blossom patterns incorporated across the twin-tails to reinforce the Sakura Miku theme.
The balloons also use translucent materials, while matte paintwork across Miku’s clothing contrasts with the glossier finish used on her legs and other elements of the statue.
The completed 1/7-scale figure stands approximately 26 cm tall with its dedicated display base included, with the sculpt handled by hashifu and paintwork completed by Kenji Ando.
Fans ordering directly through the Good Smile Company Official Shop will also receive an exclusive ticket-style translucent card featuring the original artwork.
It joins a growing selection of new Sakura Miku figures from Good Smile Company, which has already revealed a jumbo-sized “Nendoroid Large Sakura Miku” alongside two Sakura Miku Nendoroid Dolls inspired by the Hirosaki and Hakodate tourism collaboration during 2026.
Fan-created Miku artwork has also continued making the jump into official figures elsewhere, with S-FIRE recently opening pre-orders for its “Hatsune Miku New School Term Figure”, another cherry blossom-filled design based on a prize-winning fan entry from a separate official contest.
Pre-orders for the “G.S.Collection Sakura Miku: GSC Illustration Contest Ver.”, priced at ¥24,800 (approximately $158 / £119), are now available through the Good Smile Company Official Shop and reputable figure retailers including HobbyLink Japan, ahead of shipping in December 2027.
