Hatsune Miku Goes Back to School in Beautiful New Cherry Blossom-Themed Figure
A fan-designed Hatsune Miku outfit inspired by the excitement of starting a new school term is being transformed into an official figure, with S-FIRE recreating the competition-winning design in three dimensions.
The new “Hatsune Miku New School Term Figure” is based on artwork created by illustrator Shuno, whose entry won the grand prize in an official costume design contest built around the theme of a new school term.
The design interprets the beginning of a new academic year through a much softer spring aesthetic filled with cherry blossom colors, flowing fabric, and delicate floral details.
A large sakura-pink ribbon sits at the center of the outfit, while the wide skirt spreads outward around Miku to create a lighter silhouette that is designed to capture the feeling of a gentle spring day.
Small cherry blossom motifs are scattered throughout the clothing, accompanied by layered frills and soft pastel coloring that preserve many of the finer details from Shuno’s original illustration.
The spring theme extends beyond Miku herself, with the dedicated display base shaped around falling cherry blossom petals to make the finished figure feel more like a complete seasonal scene.
Her expression has also been designed around the contest’s theme, capturing the hopeful and excited mood associated with beginning a new school year rather than giving Miku a more conventional concert pose.
The completed figure measures approximately 23 cm tall, including its base, and is constructed from painted ABS and PVC, with sculpting handled by Honoka and Sparrow and coloring by ayn+ and Sparrow.
It is another example of S-FIRE turning winning fan-created Hatsune Miku costumes into premium figures, following the “Marshmallow Hot Cocoa” release based on SUUROKU’s grand-prize design from an earlier “Winter Drink” themed competition.
That figure translated melting chocolate, marshmallow-inspired clothing, and a chocolate-bar display base into three dimensions, while the new release shifts the same fan-design concept toward sakura season and the beginning of spring.
Pre-orders for the new figure opened in Japan on September 10 through the Sega Fave Store, with the release being produced on a made-to-order basis rather than as a permanently stocked figure.
Orders will remain open until December 7, 2026, at 11:59 PM JST, giving collectors several months to secure the figure before production is finalized.
The “Hatsune Miku New School Term Figure” is priced at ¥12,980 (approximately $84 / £62) and is scheduled for release in August 2027.
