Opening date confirmed for Tokyo’s new Harry Potter shop in Harajuku

Warner Bros. Studio Japan has announced the opening date for Japan’s first flagship “Harry Potter Shop” in the Harajuku district of Tokyo.
The new store, located along the main Omotesando thoroughfare, is the latest addition to the official Harry Potter retail presence in the city, which also includes shops at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo and in the Akasaka district.

Set in one of Tokyo’s primary hubs for fashion, culture, and trends, the new store is designed around the concept of the “Forbidden Forest.”
The expansive 900-square-meter interior is decorated to resemble the mysterious forest on the grounds of Hogwarts, with atmospheric, star-like lighting filtering through decorative branches.

A corner display will feature a large statue of Buckbeak the Hippogriff, the proud magical creature from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
The store is composed of two floors, each with a variety of themed sections.

The first floor houses a corner for Harajuku-exclusive merchandise, including apparel, stationery, and other goods available only at this location.
It also features a “House Pride” section, with a wide range of items dedicated to the four Hogwarts houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin.
The second floor offers several unique experiences.
A “MinaLima” section will sell art and goods from the graphic design duo responsible for the visual style of the films.

A “Confectionery” corner, designed to look like the Hogsmeade sweet shop Honeydukes, will offer treats like Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans and Chocolate Frogs.
Another section will be dedicated to wands and school robes, with the option to have names embroidered on the robes.
A major feature of the second floor is the “Butterbeer Bar,” which will be the first place to serve the iconic wizarding drink in Harajuku.
This will be only the second location in Tokyo, outside of the Studio Tour, where fans can enjoy Butterbeer.

The bar will also offer exclusive food items that are unique to the Harajuku store.
The “Harry Potter Shop Harajuku” is located at 6-31-17 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, and it is scheduled to officially open on Thursday, the 14th of August, 2025.
