New trailer for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment reveals partner attacks

A new trailer for the upcoming game, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, was revealed during the recent Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase broadcast.
The new video provided a fresh look at the gameplay for the “Musou”-style action title, and an official website for the game has also been launched.

Musou, or Warriors, games are a genre of 1-vs-1,000 action games where players control powerful characters to fight against massive hordes of enemies.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is set in the distant past of Hyrule, and its story is designed to connect directly with the events of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

The plot is told from the perspective of Princess Zelda and follows the battles of the ancient era that were seen in flashbacks during Tears of the Kingdom.

Players will fight alongside ancient heroes like King Rauru and Queen Sonia.

The new gameplay footage showcased a “partner-based attack” system.
This mechanic allows two characters to team up to unleash a powerful, crowd-clearing special move.
One scene in the trailer showed Zelda and King Rauru joining hands to blast a crowd of Bokoblins with twin beams of light.

The end of the new trailer also teased the appearance of a bipedal mech of some kind, though it was only shown being assembled and its abilities were not revealed.

This new title was one of several major third-party games featured in the broadcast.
Other games shown included Capcom’s Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection and two new HD-2D titles from Square Enix, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales and Octopath Traveler 0.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment has been announced as an exclusive title for the Nintendo Switch 2, and it is scheduled to be released this winter.
