New SPY x FAMILY rides announced for Universal Studios Japan

Universal Studios Japan (USJ) have announced plans for several new SPY x FAMILY attractions, which are set to open in 2025.

USJ, located in Osaka, is commemorating the 10th anniversary of its seasonal event “Universal Cool Japan” with a year-long series of attractions and collaborations throughout 2025.

This collaboration with “SPYxFAMILY” will form part of the anniversary celebrations alongside recently announced plans for a new attraction based on the popular series “The Apothecary Diaries”, which will open in July 2025.

“SPYxFAMILY ” is a highly successful manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuya Endo, currently serialized on Shueisha’s “Shonen Jump+” online platform.

The anime adaptation of “SPYxFAMILY” has been met with widespread popularity and the highly anticipated third season of the television anime is due to be broadcast in October 2025.

USJ first collaborated with the series in 2023, but have not added any new attractions based on “SPYxFAMILY” since then.

The “SPYxFAMILY” collaboration will introduce several new and enhanced attractions.

USJ’s “Space Fantasy the Ride” will be converted into the new SPYxFAMILY XR Ride

This includes the world’s first “SPYxFAMILY XR Ride”, a virtual reality-enhanced roller coaster experience designed to immerse guests in the world of espionage alongside the Forger family.

It will be an immersive attraction that integrates a 360-degree virtual reality environment with the dynamic motion of a high-speed ride, challenging participants to an exciting mission alongside the Forger family.

Guests will be taken on an action packed experience with Lloyd and Yor as they combat enemy spies alongside Anya and her telepathic dog Bond.

The experience aims to place guests directly within a thrilling mission to acquire top-secret documents, working alongside the Forger family.

The second new attraction will be the “SPYxFAMILY Story Ride”, which will allow guests to experience an adventure with characters from Eden Academy, which promises “super thrills” for visitors.

The “Spy x Family Story Ride” will take the place of the “Hollywood Dream – The Ride” rollercoaster

This ride will be a narrative-driven experience where guests can immerse themselves in a comical storyline featuring Anya and other students from Eden Academy, experiencing the sensation of flying above the park.

An original audio story will unfold for riders as they travel on a mine cart-style ride during an extracurricular class with Anya, Becky, and Damian.

The ride will navigate a dynamic and swaying route, including an unexpected descent into a cave, aiming to provide a thrilling experience while engaging with the “SPYxFAMILY” characters.

A new “SPYxFAMILY Exciting! USJ Park Rally” will also debut, encouraging park visitors to explore various areas while participating in a quiz rally themed around the Forger family.

These “SPYxFAMILY” attractions will be available for a limited time between July 1st 2025 and January 4th 2026.

Further details regarding the specific content of the collaboration attractions, themed food and beverage options, and exclusive merchandise related to the “SPYxFAMILY” event will be announced by Universal Studios Japan at a later date.

Universal Studios Japan will also be offering a special ticket package to celebrate the “SPYxFAMILY” collaboration event.

A mobile wallpaper will be included with special 1-Day Passes

From April 25th the “SPYxFAMILY Special 1-Day Pass” will be available for park visitors during July and August 2025.

This special pass includes bonus items such as an exclusive smartphone wallpaper and a randomly selected badge (one of three designs).

For an additional fee of 1,000 yen, pass holders can also secure guaranteed priority seating at restaurants offering collaboration-themed menus.

USJ will also be offering the “Universal Express Pass ~SPYxFAMILY XR Ride Special Pass~”, which allows for expedited access to the VR coaster attraction and includes a ride photograph taken during the “SPYxFAMILY XR Ride”.
