New Evangelion Model Kits Let Fans Get Hands On with Rei and Asuka

Good Smile Company has officially opened pre-orders for two new model kits inspired by the Rebuild of Evangelion films, bringing Rei Ayanami and Shikinami Asuka Langley to the popular buildable figure series.
The latest additions to the PLAMATEA line recreate Evangelion’s First Child and Second Child in highly articulated, non-scale plastic model kit form while faithfully capturing their iconic Plug Suit designs from the films.

Rebuild of Evangelion reimagines the legendary anime series through a series of feature films that introduce updated character designs, revised storylines, and spectacular large-scale battles involving the mysterious Evangelion units.

Leading the new model kit releases is “PLAMATEA Rei Ayanami,” which depicts Rei wearing her instantly recognizable white Plug Suit.

Once assembled, the model stands approximately 17 cm tall and features fully articulated joints that allow builders to recreate a wide variety of poses.

The kit includes interchangeable hands, including a specially sculpted hand holding Rei’s glasses case, alongside additional hands designed to grip weapons included with compatible kits such as the separately sold MODEROID Evangelion Unit-01.

Three interchangeable facial expressions are included, featuring a neutral face, a smile and a stern expression.

One pre-painted neutral face part is supplied, while additional face plates allow builders to customise the direction of Rei’s eyes using the included decals.

Marking decals for colour separation and fine detailing are also included, along with a dedicated display stand featuring an adjustable support arm.

Joining Rei is “PLAMATEA Shikinami Asuka Langley,” recreating the fiery pilot in her signature red Plug Suit.

Like Rei, Asuka stands approximately 17 cm tall after assembly and features extensive articulation for a wide range of expressive display poses.

Her accessories include interchangeable hands, including a unique hand fitted with a puppet, as well as weapon-holding hands compatible with accessories included with separately sold kits such as MODEROID Evangelion Unit-01.

Builders can choose between three facial expressions consisting of a cheerful smile, an embarrassed expression, and Asuka’s famous “Are you stupid?” look.

A pre-painted smiling face is included straight out of the box, while additional face parts can be customised with different eye directions using the supplied decals.

Asuka also includes detailed marking decals together with an adjustable display base to complete the presentation.

Both “PLAMATEA Rei Ayanami” and “PLAMATEA Shikinami Asuka Langley” are priced at ¥7,700 each (approx. $49 USD / £39 GBP), with pre-orders now open via reputable hobby goods retailers, such as HobbyLink Japan, ahead of their scheduled December 2026 release.
