Miku becomes a mobile suit for cute new Gundam collab Gashapon figures

BANDAI is set to release a new set of super-cute Gundam-themed Hatsune Miku mini figures.
The upcoming “GUNDAM × MIKU Anniversary Special Project. Figure Collection” from BANDAI will feature four cute figures of Hatsune Miku in various mobile suit-themed outfits.

These new figures feature Hatsune Miku dressed in cute Zaku and Z’Gok costumes, adding a touch of “kawaii” to the grim Universal Century battlefield.
The “Gundam” franchise, which commenced in 1979 with “Mobile Suit Gundam,” is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year.
It is a popular series of anime, known for giant humanoid mobile suits and storylines exploring the realities of war.

Hatsune Miku, a virtual pop idol developed by Crypton Future Media, has become a worldwide sensation since her 2007 debut.
Her popularity stems from her Vocaloid software, which allows users to create music with her synthesized voice, fostering an enormous fan-generated content ecosystem.

The unique “Gundam x Hatsune Miku” crossover project has already captivated fans with various initiatives, including virtual concerts and a range of merchandise.

Previously, the collaboration also saw the Gashapon release of Gundam figures where the mobile suits had a Hatsune Miku-themed color scheme.

The collaboration has also resulted in an original song titled “Idol Warrior” (Idol Senshi) by Vocaloid producer Mitchie M.
The collaboration’s music video notably features Hatsune Miku interacting with and dressed as different mobile suits, providing the inspiration for these new Gashapon figures.

Gashapon, a portmanteau of the Japanese onomatopoeia “gasha” (the sound of turning a crank) and “pon” (the sound of a capsule dropping), refers to coin-operated vending machines that dispense capsule toys.
The figures are priced at 500 yen (approx. $3.49 USD / £2.54 GBP) per capsule, and includes four different types of mobile suits associated with the Principality of Zeon:
- Zaku Plush Toy [Hatsune Miku Ver.] Negi

This figure features Hatsune Miku in a Zaku II costume, incorporating her signature leek (negi).
The Zaku II is arguably the most recognizable “enemy” mobile suit in the “Gundam” franchise.
- Char Zaku Plush Toy [Hatsune Miku Ver.]

This figure showcases Hatsune Miku in the distinctive red-colored Zaku II, famously piloted by Char Aznable, the rival of the original “Mobile Suit Gundam” protagonist, Amuro Ray.
- Zaku Plush Toy [Hatsune Miku Ver.] Sitting

This variant presents Hatsune Miku in a Zaku II costume in a seated pose.
- Hatsune Miku x Z’Gok (Char’s Custom)

This particularly unique figure combines Hatsune Miku with Char Aznable’s custom red Z’Gok, an amphibious mobile suit known for its claws and distinctive design from the original series.
This collaboration capitalizes on the immense popularity of both franchises and the Gashapon format encourages collecting all four figures, a common appeal of such capsule toy series.

Fans will be able to collect these figures from Gashapon machines across Japan starting from July 21st, 2025.
