Bandai is currently accepting pre-orders for new mini-figures from their ongoing cross-franchise collaboration between Hatsune Miku and their Gundam franchise.

These new mini-figures will see two of the most recognisable mobile suits from Mobile Suit Gundam given a new paint job inspired by Hatsune Miku.

The “Mobile Suit Gundam MOBILE SUIT ENSEMBLE ~Hatsune Miku color Ver.~” figures are the latest entry in the “MOBILE SUIT ENSEMBLE” series of figures, a popular line of capsule toys (gashapon) produced by Bandai.

The figures are renowned for their intricate detail and high articulation despite their small size, typically around 5-6 cm (2-2.5 inches).

The core concept of the “MOBILE SUIT ENSEMBLE” figures is “infinite customization”, allowing collectors to freely disassemble, reassemble, and combine parts from different figures to create unique Mobile Suit configurations.

Mobile Suit Gundam is a long-running sci-fi and mech franchise covering anime, manga, live-action and video games that features various giant robots piloted in battle against each other.

The Miku collaboration project is part of Gundam’s 45th Anniversary celebrations

Hatsune Miku is a voice synthesizer application developed by Crypton Future Media that is depicted as a 16-year-old girl with long, turquoise twin-tails. Since her debut in 2007, Miku has evolved from a software product into a virtual pop idol.

The collaboration between the two brands has previously seen the release of Hatsune Miku themed Gunpla model kits, as well as a series of live music shows that took place in the ‘Gundam Metaverse’.

A wide range of Gundam x Hatsune Miku merchandise has been produced by this collaboration

This new collaboration infuses the classic designs of the RX-78-2 Gundam and the MS-06 Zaku II, two of the most recognizable Mobile Suits from the original Mobile Suit Gundam series, with Hatsune Miku’s signature aesthetic.

This unique collection of figures will features four distinct designs:

  • Gundam (Hatsune Miku Color Ver.): The legendary RX-78-2 Gundam rendered in Miku’s iconic turquoise, black, and grey colors.

  • Zaku (Hatsune Miku Color Ver.): The imposing Zaku II, also re-imagined with Hatsune Miku’s vibrant color palette.

For collectors, it’s important to note that the standard color versions of the figures will come with interchangeable hand parts, while the clear color versions will be bundled with various weapons.

Collectors will want to acquire all four types to maximize their customization potential.

The “Mobile Suit Gundam MOBILE SUIT ENSEMBLE ~Hatsune Miku color Ver.~” is priced at 800 yen per figure (tax included).

Pre-orders are currently exclusive to Gashapon Online and will close on May 26th.

The figures will eventually be sold from capsule machines

They will also become available to purchase in-person from capsule toy machines in Japan later this year.

Bandai has stated that these figures may appear in physical capsule vending machines nationwide prior to the scheduled delivery date for online pre-orders in late August 2025.
