McDonald’s Japan releases new Big Mac Fan to keep burger fans cool this summer

McDonald’s Japan has begun accepting applications for its summer “lucky bag”, a special merchandise set titled the “McDonald’s Summer Chance Bag 2025”.
While “Fukubukuro”, or lucky bags, are a major retail tradition in Japan typically associated with New Year’s, this release brings the concept to the summer season.

Each bag contains a collection of four original, summer-themed merchandise items.
The lineup includes a “Big Mac Fan”, which is a small desk fan shaped like the company’s signature hamburger.

The new design of the fan follows on from the New Year lucky bag, which featured a similarly designed “Big Mac Lantern”.

It also features a “Coca-Cola Tumbler”, created in collaboration with the beverage company.

A “McDonald’s Character Towel” is also included, with one of three possible designs featuring the classic McDonaldland characters Grimace, Hamburglar, or Birdie being included at random.

The final item is a “Chicken McNugget Clip”, a food-safe bag clip shaped like a McNugget, with one of two designs included randomly.

In addition to the physical goods, each bag contains a book of product vouchers for free McDonald’s menu items.

The vouchers are for ten items in total, including a Big Mac, a Teriyaki McBurger, a Filet-O-Fish, two medium french fries, and other popular products, with a stated value of up to 3,560 yen (approx. $24.14 USD / £17.90 GBP).
As an extra surprise, one in every ten bags will also contain a special “Golden Mac Card” loaded with 500 yen.

The “Summer Chance Bag” is priced at 3,500 yen (approx. $23.73 USD / £17.60 GBP).

The bag is being sold exclusively through a lottery system, with applications now open on the official McDonald’s Japan mobile app.
The only way to purchase the bag is by winning the advance lottery held on the McDonald’s app.

Applicants must select up to three preferred store locations for pickup when they enter the draw.
The company is offering an incentive to increase the chances of winning.
Users who select the “Mobile Order” payment option when applying will receive a second entry into the lottery.

A series of social media campaigns on the platform X are also being held over three days to promote the launch, offering followers a chance to win 1,000 yen Mac Cards ( worth approx. $6.78 USD / £5.02 GBP).
The application period for the lottery began at 2:00 PM on July 7th and will close at 11:59 PM on July 17th.

The results of the lottery draw are scheduled to be announced on July 24th.
Winners will then be able to purchase and pick up their bags at their designated store location between July 28th and August 5th.
