Konami confirms original Silent Hill remake in development by Bloober Team
Konami has officially announced that Bloober Team, the studio that developed the Silent Hill 2 remake, is now working on a remake of the original Silent Hill.
This confirmation came during Konami’s “Press Start” broadcast today.
The Silent Hill series, first launched in 1999, is a cornerstone of the psychological horror genre in video games, recognized for its unsettling atmosphere, deep symbolism, and exploration of mature themes.
The original game, released on the PlayStation, introduced players to the eerie, fog-laden town of Silent Hill and its disturbing manifestations, cementing its legacy as a foundational horror experience.
Bloober Team, a Polish developer, has built a reputation for creating psychological horror titles, including The Medium and Layers of Fear, making them a fitting choice for the franchise.
The partnership between Konami and Bloober Team for a new game based on a Konami intellectual property was initially disclosed in February, though the specific title remained unconfirmed until now.
The announcement that Bloober Team is tackling the original Silent Hill, after their relatively successful remake of the sequel Silent Hill 2, shows a significant effort by Konami to revitalize one of its most iconic horror properties.
