Kill Blue anime announced as manga comes to an end with latest chapter

A television anime adaptation has been announced for the manga series Kill Blue, the latest work from Tadatoshi Fujimaki, the creator of the hit series Kuroko’s Basketball.

The announcement comes as the Kill Blue manga has come to an end with its most recent chapter.

Kill Blue is an action-comedy series, which ran for a total of 115 chapters in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump, that follows the story of a legendary, 39-year-old assassin named Jūzō Ōgami.

After being stung by a mysterious bee, he suddenly transforms into the body of a 13-year-old boy and is then ordered to infiltrate a middle school.

To accompany the announcement, the first teaser visual and a teaser promotional video have been released.

The visual depicts Jūzō in his middle school uniform, but holding a pistol, highlighting the series’ unique premise.

The PV shows his transformation and the comical beginning of his chaotic new school life.

The main staff for the new anime has also been revealed.

The series will be directed by Hiro Kaburagi, who is known for his work on series like Great Pretender and Kimi ni Todoke – From Me to You.

The character designs will be handled by Miho Daidoji, who was an animation director on Kuroko’s Basketball.

The animation production will be handled by the studio CUE, which is led by Rui Kuroki, a former producer for the Kuroko’s Basketball anime, reuniting several key staff members from the author’s previous major hit.

In a comment released with the announcement, the original creator Tadatoshi Fujimaki, humorously expressed his gratitude to the fans and his excitement for the adaptation. He stated:

“The old man is going to be moving! You’ll hear the sound of him slurping ramen! The home economics club is going to talk! …I’m not sure if that sounds amazing or not when I put it into words.”

He concluded by asking fans to “casually enjoy and gently look forward to the anime.”
