Hello Kitty and Friends Star in Sanrio’s Sweet New Chocolate-Themed Collection

Sanrio has revealed a huge new merchandise collection that sends Hello Kitty and several of her friends into a world filled with chocolate, sweets and appropriately adorable dessert-inspired accessories.
The new “HELLO KITTY’S SWEETS MARKET ~Chocolate lovers~” collection features exclusive artwork bringing together Hello Kitty, Pompompurin, Chococat, My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll and the Lullaby Lovables twins Winky and Winkle.

Chocolate provides the main theme throughout the collection, appearing across character mascots, bags, pouches, stationery and smaller accessories designed around the idea of Sanrio’s characters enjoying their own particularly sweet world.

Among the biggest additions is a new series of eight chocolate-themed mascots, with individual versions of Hello Kitty, Pompompurin, Chococat, My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, Winky and Winkle all joining the range.

The inclusion of Lullaby Lovables also brings two much older Sanrio characters back into the spotlight, with angel twins Winky and Winkle originally making their debut during the 1970s and now appearing alongside some of the company’s biggest modern characters.

The Chocolate lovers concept originally began touring Japan earlier this summer, starting at Ginza Mitsukoshi in Tokyo on June 17 before moving to Kyoto in July and Oita during August.
Those earlier events already offered plushies, character mascots and actual sweets, but the latest reveal considerably expands the merchandise surrounding the theme with more practical bags, accessories and stationery featuring the chocolate-themed designs.
The wider event is also much larger than the exclusive collection alone, with the upcoming Sapporo edition expected to bring together more than 2,000 Sanrio items in total.

The newly revealed merchandise will first be available at the next HELLO KITTY’S SWEETS MARKET ~Chocolate lovers~ event at Daimaru Umeda in Osaka from September 18 to October 5, with several of the new items specifically receiving advance sales at the Osaka venue.
The collection will then travel to Tobu Department Store Ikebukuro in Tokyo from October 22 to November 3 before reaching Daimaru Sapporo in Hokkaido from November 18 to November 30.
