Heinz and Kirby team up for new tomato ketchup collab

Heinz has announced a new collaboration with one of Nintendo’s most iconic characters, Kirby.
The new collaboration between Kirby and Heinz will see the launch of special edition tomato ketchup packaging, which is sure to be sought after by fans of the series as not only a fun addition to their pantry, but also as a collectors item.
This partnership leverages the shared “tomato” theme between Kirby’s health-restoring item the “Maxim Tomato,” and Heinz’s staple condiment.

The Kirby series, developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo, has been a staple in gaming for over 30 years, known for its cheerful characters and Kirby’s unique ability to absorb enemy powers.
The Maxim Tomato, a full-health recovery item, is one of the most recognizable elements from the franchise.

Heinz, a global food giant, is synonymous with tomato ketchup, making this collaboration a perfect match.
Last year, a similar collaboration featuring Kirby on Heinz ketchup pouches generated huge interest, becoming a top trend on X (formerly Twitter).

Thew new collaboration was recently teased by Heinz on their official social media accounts, with Kirby and Waddle Dee posing next to a bottle of ketchup:

This latest collaboration features three variations of Heinz Tomato Ketchup in upside-down bottles, each adorned with unique packaging designs.

These designs incorporate Heinz’s traditional “Keystone” logo, within which Kirby and Waddle Dee are depicted alongside tomatoes and hamburgers.
To celebrate the launch, Heinz will conduct a campaign on its official X account.
Participants who correctly answer a quiz presented in a designated post will be entered into a lottery.
A total of 1,000 winners will receive an original Keystone-shaped keychain, mirroring the design and size of the packaging’s distinctive logo.

The “Kirby x Heinz Tomato Ketchup Upside-Down Bottle” will retail for ¥383 (tax included) and sales will begin at convenience stores and supermartkers across Japan on an as yet unannounced date in June.
As yet there is no indication as to whether the Kirby x Heinz collaboration will be extended beyond Japan.
