Hatsune Miku RX-78-2 Gundam Gunpla Kit Gets Exclusive Re-Release

Bandai has re-released a unique Hatsune Miku and Gundam collaboration Gunpla kit, giving fans another chance to add it to their collection.

The “RG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.2.0 [Hatsune Miku Ver.]” lets Gunpla builders construct a detailed recreation of the original Gundam in the signature colors of Hatsune Miku.

The iconic RX-78-2 Gundam remains one of the most recognizable designs in anime history, making this musical crossover incredibly popular among dedicated enthusiasts.

This unique model kit was originally released in early 2026 as part of the “Gundam 45th Anniversary x Hatsune Miku” project.

The large-scale team-up involved virtual music concerts, capsule toys, and a variety of other figures to celebrate the incredible legacy of both pop culture icons.

The collaboration also saw the launch of a similar crossover model kit based on the classic Universal Century mobile suit, the “RG 1/144 MS-06S Zaku II [Hatsune Miku Ver.]”.

The Hatsune Miku Ver. Zaku II model kit moved away from its traditional military green to present a refreshing palette of white, grey, black, and teal, which were faithfully reproduced through precisely colored molding.

In terms of included weaponry, it came fully equipped with the standard machine gun, the powerful bazooka, and the signature heat hawk melee weapon.

The highly anticipated re-release of the “RG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.2.0 [Hatsune Miku Ver.]” sees the kit now on sale in a Gundam Base store located close to Sapporo, the home of Hatsune Miku’s creators, Crypton Future Media.

It utilizes molded plastic colors to create a unique version of the RX-78-2 Gundam without requiring paint.

Its armor parts are rendered in a beautiful blue-green, silver, and black color scheme that mimics Hatsune Miku’s iconic color palette.

To add an extra layer of detail to the kit, it includes original realistic decals designed specifically for this version.

Builders will also find that it comes equipped with beam saber effect parts molded in a special color to perfectly match the Hatsune Miku theme.

The “RG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.2.0 [Hatsune Miku Ver.]” is priced at 4,290 yen (approx. $28 USD / £22 GBP).

This sought-after Gunpla kit is now available for purchase exclusively at the Gundam Base Annex store located at Sapporo’s New Chitose Airport.
