Harajuku’s legendary “KAWAII MONSTER CAFE” to return as an amusement park

A new entertainment facility, “KAWAII MONSTER LAND,” is set to open, inheriting the brand identity of the legendary Harajuku restaurant, the KAWAII MONSTER CAFE.
The new venture is a joint project between the amusement facility operator, GENDA GiGO Entertainment, and the talent and event management company, ASOBISYSTEM.

The original KAWAII MONSTER CAFE, produced by the artist Sebastian Masuda, operated in Harajuku from 2015 to 2021 and became a global icon of Tokyo’s “Kawaii” culture, attracting over 700,000 visitors.

This new project is a successor to that legacy, reimagined as a “Kawaii Amusement Park.”
The park is built around the story of a “giant amusement park that once existed under Harajuku,” which has now been partially excavated and recreated.
“KAWAII MONSTER LAND” will be an immersive and photogenic space, featuring sweets-themed monster rides, unique food and games, and live shows performed by the park’s iconic “Monster Girl” staff.

In this first wave of announcements, an open casting call has been launched to recruit the new generation of Monster Girls who will be the face of the new facility.
To celebrate the brand’s history and to offer a preview of the new park, a “KAWAII MONSTER CAFE 10th Anniversary Party” will be held on the 28th of August, 2025.

This event will feature a special show by the new Monster Girls, offering a first glimpse into the world of the upcoming attraction.
The new “KAWAII MONSTER LAND – HARAJUKU -” will be located on the basement floor of the Takeshita-dori Square building in Harajuku, Tokyo.
The new amusement park is scheduled to open in the winter of 2025.
