Gundam’s official traditional Japanese coat line adds new Char’s Counterattack and Hathaway designs
Pre-orders have officially opened for a unique collaboration between the Gundam apparel brand STRICT-G and the historic Japanese textile manufacturer Miyata Orimono.
The collaboration features a series of “Wata-ire Hanten” (cotton-padded traditional Japanese coats) inspired by Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack and Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe.
Miyata Orimono is a renowned manufacturer based in Chikugo City, Fukuoka Prefecture, with over 100 years of history.
These coats are meticulously crafted in Japan, with every step from weaving to padding and sewing done by hand.
The design modernizes the traditional hanten silhouette by cutting the underside of the sleeves for a sleeker look.
The backs of the coats feature dynamic, brush-stroke style artwork of iconic mobile suits: Nu Gundam, Sazabi, Xi (Ksi) Gundam, and Penelope.
The collection is available in two sizes: a standard size and a “Long” size equivalent to 2L-3L for a looser fit.

This announcement adds to a busy week for STRICT-G, following the reveal of their “Instapump Fury” sneaker collaboration with Reebok and new Gundam Wing 30th-anniversary apparel.
Pre-orders opened on December 5, 2025, via the Premium Bandai “STRICT-G Online Store.”
The pre-order window closes on December 14, with shipping expected in December 2025.
A general in-store release is scheduled for Saturday, December 13, at STRICT-G locations in Japan.
