Gundam Officially Reveals 2 New Rogue Orbit Mobile Suit Designs
Image by Charlotte DavisBandai Namco has revealed two completely new Mobile Suit designs for GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT, giving fans a first-look at the upcoming game’s roster beyond protagonist machine Gundam Helix.
The newly unveiled machines are the “Bau Bhalam” and “Calice,” two very different designs that will be piloted by characters introduced alongside the game’s latest trailer and newly released official setting artwork.
GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT introduces an original timeline to the Gundam franchise and forms one half of the wider RG Project alongside the upcoming anime Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO, with both stories taking place within the same newly created universe.
Until now, most attention has been focused on the ARK-10 Gundam Helix piloted by protagonist RE-X, making the arrival of two named non-Gundam machines our first much clearer look at how other factions will approach Mobile Suit development within the setting.
The first new design is the BMP4/6 “Bau Bhalam,” a rugged and heavily armored Mobile Suit built around a much bulkier appearance than the Gundam Helix.
Its equipment is dominated by an enormous physical sword, while the machine itself uses a single-eye style head, large shoulder armor, and a much more industrial appearance that immediately separates it from the game’s protagonist Gundam.
Bau Bhalam is piloted by Big Paul, leader of the Mars-based sand pirate group Red Grit, whose crew hunts the mysterious Apocalypse while also raiding wealthy transports and distributing supplies among people living on Mars.
The second design is the TRA122E/B “Calice,” which takes a noticeably more knight-like approach with ornate armor, a pointed helmet, and a large lance as its primary weapon.
Calice belongs to Elaine Galath, the 19th-ranked Knight Commander of the Trezor Council and representative of the colony’s Mobile Suit forces, with Elaine described as an exceptionally capable pilot who personally enters combat while commanding her forces.
Footage accompanying the reveal also appears to show additional Calice-type machines fighting alongside Elaine’s unit, suggesting her Mobile Suit may be connected to a wider family of machines rather than existing as a completely unique one-off design.
Both newcomers were revealed alongside a substantial new look at GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT’s customization system, which allows players to change weapons, frames, thrusters, Apocalypse Units, and colors to alter how the Gundam Helix performs in combat.
The same trailer also briefly introduces an unidentified black Mobile Suit with glowing red eyes, meaning Bau Bhalam and Calice are unlikely to be the last completely new machines revealed before launch.
GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT will be released worldwide for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam on March 5, 2027, with pre-orders now open across multiple editions.
