Gundam IBO’s Most Expensive Barbatos Figure Returns for Bandai’s Gundam Summer Fest 2026
The METAL BUILD Gundam Barbatos (4th Form) + Boomerang Mace has joined Premium Bandai US’s Gundam Summer Fest 2026, allowing fans to add the most detailed official Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans figure ever released to their collection for a limited time.
Based on the Fourth Form piloted by Mikazuki Augus in Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, the approximately 18cm pre-painted figure combines ABS and PVC components with extensive alloy construction to give Barbatos the weight and exposed mechanical appearance expected from the METAL BUILD line.
The figure was developed under the supervision of original mechanical designer Naohiro Washio, with the familiar Barbatos silhouette receiving additional mechanical detailing across its exposed Gundam Frame and layered exterior armor.
Alloy parts are used extensively throughout the Gundam Frame, complementing details such as visible hydraulic cylinders and mechanical joints while helping the finished figure feel suitably substantial in hand.
Barbatos retains the lean proportions and exposed waist associated with its anime appearance, while the high level of articulation allows it to recreate the low stances, wide swings, and aggressive close-combat poses that define Mikazuki’s fighting style.
Its familiar armaments include the huge Mace and a pair of swords, but the biggest attraction of this release is the newly created Boomerang Mace that gives this version of Barbatos a substantially different display option.
Designed specifically for the METAL BUILD release by Washio and Iron-Blooded Orphans director Tatsuyuki Nagai, the Boomerang Mace can be folded for storage on Barbatos’ back or opened into its much wider deployed configuration.
Four separate grip positions allow Barbatos to wield the weapon in several ways with one or both hands, while the included clear support can be used to recreate the oversized weapon being thrown through the air.
The other major addition is a crimson fabric cloak that gives the Fourth Form a considerably more dramatic appearance, with weathered detailing, poseable internal wiring, and printed markings linked to Tekkadan and Mikazuki.
The cloak works particularly well with the more exposed mechanical appearance of the METAL BUILD figure, giving collectors an alternative to the clean anime-style presentation normally associated with the Fourth Form.
Between the heavy alloy Gundam Frame, detailed armor, large weapon selection, new Boomerang Mace, and crimson cloak, this is a version of Barbatos designed as much around display presence as recreating scenes from Iron-Blooded Orphans.
The figure is not exclusive to Premium Bandai US, so whilst you may be able to order it through third-party retailers, its current appearance on the official Premium Bandai store coincides with the ongoing Gundam Summer Fest 2026 promotion.
The promotion currently provides free shipping on qualifying orders of $99 or more, making ordering directly from Premium Bandai US a good choice to save money, particularly given the base cost of the figure itself.
