Gundam: IBO’s Exclusive Barbatos Gunpla Kit Joins Bandai’s Gundam Summer Fest 2026
Image by Charlotte DavisA Gundam Base-exclusive version of one of Iron-Blooded Orphans’ most recognizable Mobile Suits is receiving a rare US online release, with the HG 1/144 Gundam Barbatos [Metallic Gloss Injection] becoming temporarily available outside its usual retail setting.
The limited kit takes the familiar HG Gundam Barbatos and replaces its standard molded appearance with Metallic Gloss Injection parts, giving the armor a noticeably shinier finish while retaining the distinctive colors and exposed mechanical appearance associated with the Mobile Suit.
Gundam Barbatos remains one of the defining designs from Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, combining an unusually narrow waist and exposed Gundam Frame with large sections of white armor, prominent shoulders, substantial leg armor, and its instantly recognizable horned head.
The Metallic Gloss Injection treatment gives those familiar details a different appearance without covering the entire model in the heavier reflective coatings found on some more expensive limited-edition Gunpla releases.
This makes the kit particularly appealing as an alternative version of Barbatos for collectors who already own one of its standard releases, while the different surface finish also helps it stand apart when displayed alongside other Iron-Blooded Orphans Gunpla.
The model retains Gundam Barbatos’ signature oversized mace alongside its sword, providing weapons suited to the aggressive close-range poses that became a major part of the Mobile Suit’s identity throughout the series.
The temporary online release forms part of Gundam Summer Fest 2026, which has seen a substantial selection of normally limited Gundam Base Gunpla become available to US collectors for a short period.
