Sanrio and Staub Launch New Hello Kitty and Kuromi Cookware Collection

Sanrio has teamed up with French cookware brand Staub for a new premium cast-iron collection starring Hello Kitty and Kuromi.
The “Staub × Sanrio characters” collection gives both characters their own version of Staub’s Japanese-inspired Wa-NABE, pairing the brand’s enamelled cast-iron cookware with specially designed lids and character-shaped stainless-steel knobs.

Staub is a French cookware brand best known for its heavy cast-iron cocottes and other enamelled cookware, with its products sold internationally through the Zwilling group.

Wa-NABE belongs to Staub’s Japonesque range and was developed specifically around Japanese cooking, using a rounded base that encourages liquid to circulate more freely while heat spreads throughout the pot.

The heavy cast-iron lid also helps retain heat and steam, while raised Chistera elements on its underside return condensed moisture to the food below as it cooks.
Sanrio has previously taken both characters deeper into the kitchen and dining space through separate collaborations, including Hello Kitty’s huge retro kitchenware collection with 212 KITCHEN STORE and Kuromi’s traditional Japanese tableware range with Kyoto brand Tachikichi.

Staub’s new collaboration moves into considerably heavier cookware, with each character receiving a different Wa-NABE size, color and lid treatment.
The “Wa-NABE Hello Kitty XL 24cm Sorbet Rose,” priced at ¥49,500 (approximately $314 / £233), uses a soft pink finish across a 3.6-liter pot weighing approximately 4.5 kg.

Hello Kitty and her signature ribbon appear as raised reliefs across the lid, while the standard center knob is replaced by a three-dimensional stainless-steel bow.

Staub also connects the bow directly to Hello Kitty’s established character symbolism, describing it as a sign of friendship that represents bringing people together.
The larger model measures approximately 30.8 cm long and 24 cm wide, giving it considerably more capacity than the accompanying Kuromi edition.
The “Wa-NABE Kuromi L 20cm Black,” priced at ¥38,500 (approximately $244 / £181), instead uses Staub’s black finish across a 2.35-liter pot weighing approximately 3.2 kg.

Its lid places Kuromi alongside her tapir companion Baku in raised relief, while the central knob takes the form of a three-dimensional Kuromi figure rather than using a simpler character symbol.

The darker finish provides a sharp contrast with Hello Kitty’s Sorbet Rose model, with the Kuromi pot measuring approximately 26.5 cm long and 20.7 cm wide.
Both are made in France from enamelled cast iron and can be used on gas, induction and other standard cooking surfaces, as well as in ovens at temperatures up to 250°C.

Zwilling also lists both models with lifetime warranties, keeping the same functional cookware specifications found across Staub’s regular Wa-NABE range despite the character-focused exterior designs.

The Japanese launch follows a separate Hello Kitty-focused Staub range offered through Zwilling Taiwan earlier in October, where she appeared across multiple pieces of cookware and tableware before the new Japan collection added Kuromi to the collaboration.

The “Staub × Sanrio characters” collection is now available in Japan through Zwilling stores, selected specialty and department stores, and the official Zwilling online shop, alongside select Japanese online retailers.

Amazon Japan will begin selling the collection separately from November 27, while Zwilling’s US store has not confirmed whether they will stock the collection at the time of writing.
