Gundam Base Exclusive RG Zeong Returns to P-Bandai US for Gundam Summer Fest 2026

The RG 1/144 The Gundam Base Limited Zeong [Special Coating] has arrived back in stock at Premium Bandai US, making one of harder to get hold of versions of the Mobile Suit Gundam mobile armor available to order online once again as part of Bandai’s ongoing Gundam Summer Fest 2026 campaign.

The Special Coating Zeong is normally sold as a Gundam Base limited release and as such is often more difficult for US collectors to buy without visiting one of the physical stores or a Gundam Base pop-up event.

Based on the RG Zeong, the kit recreates the imposing mobile suit piloted by Char Aznable during the final battle of the original Mobile Suit Gundam, retaining the unusually large skirt, articulated hands, exposed thrusters, and distinctive head that make the design immediately recognizable.

The major difference with this Gundam Base version is its premium exterior treatment, which combines Special Coating across key armor sections with Metallic Gloss Injection parts to give the completed Zeong a much stronger metallic appearance than the standard RG release.

The finish particularly suits the Zeong’s dense Real Grade detailing, helping the layered armor, mechanical sections, and large thruster assemblies stand out without requiring builders to paint the kit themselves.

Bandai’s RG engineering also gives the Zeong considerably more movement than its unusual legless design might suggest, with a flexible waist structure allowing the huge upper body to lean and twist into more dynamic poses.

Movement of the chest is linked to four verniers across the chest and back, while the large skirt armor can open to expose the mass of individually adjustable thrusters underneath.

The mono-eye moves from side to side in conjunction with the neck and can also be repositioned vertically, adding considerably more expression to the Zeong’s otherwise imposing single-eyed head.

Its large articulated hands use Advanced MS Joint construction with movable finger joints, preserving one of the Zeong’s most recognizable features while allowing the hands to be posed around its all-range attacks.

Both forearms can be detached and connected using the included lead wires to recreate the Zeong’s wire-guided arm-mounted Mega Particle Cannons, allowing the completed model to reproduce some of its most memorable attacks from Mobile Suit Gundam.

The arms can also be extended and connected to supports on the included display base, creating a much wider battle scene without requiring the detached sections to simply hang from their wires.

A dedicated display base and lead wires are included with the kit, making it possible to create an airborne Zeong display and show off its remote arm attacks straight from the box.

Between the oversized silhouette, metallic coating, detailed internal thrusters, articulated hands, and wire-guided weapons, this version turns an already unusual Real Grade into a much more display-focused centerpiece for a Universal Century Gunpla collection.

Its current online restock arrives as part of Premium Bandai US’s Gundam Summer Fest, which is giving collectors temporary access to a selection of Gundam Base releases that would normally be considerably harder to obtain outside the stores.
