God Gundam and Master Gundam “MOBILE SUIT ENSEMBLE” figures get new “Hyper Mode” releases
Bandai has announced the re-release of two popular figures from the popular “MOBILE SUIT ENSEMBLE” line.
These aren’t normal re-releases though, as the two previously released “ENSEMBLE” figures of God Gundam and Master Gundam from Mobile Fighter G Gundam have been re-worked into new versions based on their “Hyper Mode” forms.
Mobile Fighter G Gundam, which first aired in 1994, stands out in the Gundam franchise for its departure from traditional warfare narratives, instead focusing on a global martial arts tournament.
In this series, Mobile Suits are referred to as Mobile Fighters and are piloted by characters who engage in one-on-one combat, often reflecting their national martial arts styles.
The “Hyper Mode” is a powerful, temporary transformation achieved by Mobile Fighters when their pilots reach a state of heightened emotion or enlightenment, enhancing their abilities and often changing their appearance with a golden glow or energy emanations.
These two releases are based on the Hyper Mode versions of Domon Kasshu’s God Gundam (Burning Gundam) and Master Asia’s Master Gundam.
The “MOBILE SUIT ENSEMBLE” series is a highly regarded line of small-scale, articulated collectible figures produced by Bandai.
The series’ core concept revolves around “heavy armament” and emphasizing the modularity and weapon customization potential of Mobile Suits.
Figures in this line typically feature numerous hardpoints for attaching various weapons and armor pieces, allowing for extensive customization and dynamic posing.
The “EX” designation denotes larger or more elaborate sets, often Premium Bandai exclusives, which offer enhanced detail and additional accessories.
These updated re-releases have been announced at a time when Bandai have also recently opened pre-orders for a number of G Gundam products including a re-release of the RG 1/144 God Gundam expansion parts set and a new RG 1/144 Shining Gundam kit.

Mobile Suit Gundam MOBILE SUIT ENSEMBLE EX53
“God Gundam Hyper Mode” is a re-release of the previously popular “Mobile Suit Gundam MOBILE SUIT ENSEMBLE EX43 God Gundam”, but now presented in its powerful Hyper Mode.
This approximately 65mm tall figure comes pre-painted but requires some assembly.
Key accessories included for recreating iconic scenes from the series are:
- A Halo:
- Representing the golden energy aura of Hyper Mode.
- God Slash:
- The beam saber utilized by God Gundam.
- God Finger:
- Essential for recreating the Gundam’s signature finishing move.
These accessories allow for dynamic posing and scene recreation, capturing the God Gundam’s fighting capabilities.
Mobile Suit Gundam MOBILE SUIT ENSEMBLE EX54 Master Gundam Hyper Mode
This figure similarly re-releases the “Mobile Suit Gundam MOBILE SUIT ENSEMBLE EX44 Master Gundam”, but this time in its Hyper Mode form.
This approximately 65mm tall figure also comes pre-painted with some minor assembly required.
It includes elements that allow you to fully represent Master Asia’s formidable Mobile Fighter:
- Master Cloth:
- The flexible, sash-like weapon of Master Gundam.
- Distant Crusher:
- Master Gundam’s powerful ranged attack.
- Fuunsaiki:
- Master Gundam’s loyal horse, a unique and iconic companion in the G Gundam series.
The inclusion of Fuunsaiki alongside Master Gundam makes this set particularly appealing, allowing fans to recreate dramatic scenes featuring it alongside both Gundams.
The release of these “Hyper Mode” variants through Premium Bandai is a significant event for G Gundam fans and “ENSEMBLE” collectors, providing an opportunity to acquire new versions of two of the series’ most iconic Mobile Fighters.

The “Mobile Suit Gundam MOBILE SUIT ENSEMBLE EX53 God Gundam Hyper Mode” figure is scheduled to ship in August 2025 and will cost 6,600 yen (approx. $46.15 USD / £34.14 GBP).
The “Mobile Suit Gundam MOBILE SUIT ENSEMBLE EX54 Master Gundam Hyper Mode” figure will follow in September 2025 and is priced at 7,150 yen (approx. $50.00 USD / £36.98 GBP).
