Free Hatsune Miku Light Show Set to Illuminate Tokyo’s Night Sky This Summer

Hatsune Miku is returning to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building this summer with an updated large-scale projection mapping experience that will transform the landmark into a giant stage celebrating the world-famous virtual singer.
Hatsune Miku, developed by Crypton Future Media, has become one of Japan’s most recognizable virtual performers since her debut in 2007, inspiring hit songs, live concerts, games, and collaborations with creators around the world.

The new presentation, titled HATSUNE MIKU LIGHTS TOKYO, reimagines a spectacular projection originally shown during the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building’s New Year’s Eve countdown celebration at the end of 2025, bringing it back with updated visuals for a wider audience to enjoy.

The projection is built around the hugely popular song M@GICAL☆CURE! LOVE ♥ SHOT!, which has amassed more than 40 million views, recreating its colorful world across the enormous façade of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.

During the show, a giant Hatsune Miku appears across the building as her singing is accompanied by elegant choreography, vibrant visual effects, and sweeping beams of light that race across the skyscraper to illuminate the Shinjuku skyline.

HATSUNE MIKU LIGHTS TOKYO will also join an ever-expanding lineup of anime and gaming-inspired projection mapping shows taking place throughout the summer as part of TOKYO Night & Light.

Visitors can also experience projection mapping performances inspired by the Pokémon Trading Card Game, the Godzilla movies, hit anime series Bocchi the Rock! and BLUE LOCK, as well as a show celebrating the legendary arcade icon Pac-Man, creating a diverse program of pop culture attractions throughout the season.

Fans can also take part in a special social media campaign by commenting on eligible posts shared through the official TOKYO Night & Light Instagram account, with every participant receiving an original HATSUNE MIKU LIGHTS TOKYO digital image as a commemorative gift.

The social media campaign will run from July 15 through August 21, 2026.
HATSUNE MIKU LIGHTS TOKYO will be shown free of charge at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building on Saturdays, Sundays, and Japanese public holidays beginning July 25, with performances taking place at 7:30 PM and 9:30 PM through July 31, before moving to 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM throughout August.
