Bocchi the Rock! Set to Illuminate Tokyo’s Night Sky This Summer with New Projection Mapping Event

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has announced a new projection mapping attraction inspired by the hit anime Bocchi the Rock!, bringing the world of Kessoku Band to one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks.
Named “Seishun Complex TOKYO LUMINOUS NIGHT,” the event will transform the exterior of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building’s First Main Building into a giant visual stage celebrating the series and its music.

Bocchi the Rock! follows the socially anxious guitarist Hitori Gotoh, who joins the band Kessoku Band and gradually develops friendships, confidence, and a passion for live performance through her experiences in the music scene.

The anime gained widespread popularity for its blend of comedy, relatable character development, and memorable musical performances, with Kessoku Band’s songs becoming especially well known among fans.
The “Seishun Complex TOKYO LUMINOUS NIGHT” projection mapping show takes its inspiration from “Seishun Complex,” the anime’s iconic opening theme, which serves as the central concept for the entire presentation.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building has become a regular venue for large-scale TOKYO LUMINOUS NIGHT projection mapping events, which have featured collaborations with numerous anime, gaming, and pop culture properties.

Previous illuminations have included themes based on Mobile Suit Gundam and Pac-Man, alongside many other well-known franchises, with a Pokémon Card Game projection show having been held earlier in 2026.

For this latest production, the building’s vast exterior will act as a giant screen where synchronized lighting effects and music recreate the youthful atmosphere associated with Kessoku Band and the world of Bocchi the Rock!
The show will feature appearances by the members of Kessoku Band and will highlight a range of their expressions and memorable performance moments.

Colorful imagery and energetic visual effects have been designed to capture the excitement and emotional intensity of the band’s live concerts.
As the music progresses and changes tempo, the projected animations will shift accordingly, creating an evolving visual experience that expands upon the themes and imagery of the series.

The combination of music, animation, and large-scale projection technology is intended to immerse viewers in the vibrant world portrayed throughout Bocchi the Rock!.
For fans of the franchise, the opportunity to see Kessoku Band represented across the enormous façade of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building offers a unique tribute to the series.

The synchronization of the visuals with “Seishun Complex” aims to recreate the enthusiasm, ambition, and youthful energy that define the anime’s appeal.
“Seishun Complex TOKYO LUMINOUS NIGHT” is scheduled to begin on June 20, 2026, with showtimes set for 7:30 PM, 8:30 PM, and 9:30 PM on weekdays, while weekend and public holiday screenings will take place at 7:30 PM and 9:30 PM.

Visitors planning to attend performances scheduled after July are advised to check the official event website for the latest timetable information.
